Trigger Warning: This article contains a discussion of domestic violence allegations.
Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives featured a post-partum Jennifer Affleck chasing her dreams. In Jen’s case, that meant competing on Dancing with the Stars, along with SLOMW co-star Whitney Leavitt. Neither won the Mirrorball, and the two MomTok members feuded during Season 4.
It seems that the competition and jealousy from the DWTS ballroom imploded their friendship. For Whitney, Jen’s failure to congratulate her for landing a stint as Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago on Broadway was too much.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star wishes more “real moments” were shown
Filming for Season 5 of SLOMW has been put on pause amid the domestic abuse investigation involving Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen. Meanwhile, Mayci Neeley shared a shady TikTok video, seeming to speak out on the turmoil surrounding MomTok.
In addition, Jen shared her thoughts about SLOMW via Instagram. “When I joined The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, I didn’t know what would come from it,” she wrote in the caption. However, she “knew I wanted to share my story.” Jen added that she “wanted to be honest” about her experience as “a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, the beauty and the struggles.”
The SLOMW star noted, “I understand drama is what people expect from reality TV, but I wish more of the other real moments were shown too.” Jen mentioned “the empowerment, the birth stories, the beauty of motherhood.” She concluded her lengthy message with, “Thank you to everyone who’s supported me along the way. I’m far from perfect, still learning, but I hope my vulnerability can be a source of good.”
Many of Jen’s co-stars, such as Mayci and Layla Taylor, posted heart emojis in the comments. Plus, Miranda McWhorter wrote, “love you jenny.”
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is streaming on Hulu.
