New Real Housewives of Atlanta Cast Member Has House Seized: Details

Life comes at you fast. One minute, you’re posting memes making light of your bankruptcy, the next, you’re in the headlines because a creditor seized your house. This is the unfortunate reality for Real Housewives of Atlanta newbie Pinky Cole.

Earlier this month, the restaurateur and reality star filed for bankruptcy and had a lot to say about it, boasting online about how it was a smart financial move. Now, she’s in court begging to get her house back.

RHOA’s Pinky Cole is pleading for help in court

Pinky filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the beginning of the month, just days after Bravo dropped the RHOA Season 17 trailer. According to court documents, she allegedly owes $1.2 million to the Small Business Administration and nearly $200,000 to the Georgia Department of Revenue. She said she had virtually no income outside of the $15,000 a month her husband earns.

Pinky reacted to the news by sharing multiple Instagram posts making light of the situation. In one Instagram video, she pretended to pack up her suitcases and joked about being forced out of her home.

“What people think happens after you file bankruptcy,” she jokingly wrote at the time.

Now, TMZ has revealed that a creditor called Guardian Asset Management showed up at one of her investment properties and changed the locks. They also put a notice on the window for all the neighbors to see. Pinky and her lawyer argue that this was improper, noting that the bankruptcy filing should have paused any collection efforts.

“This was an investment property that was unlawfully seized from Ms. Cole. This unlawful seizure violated the automatic stay imposed in Ms. Cole’s bankruptcy case,” Pinky’s lawyer said in a statement.

According to Pinky and her team, the seizure is causing “extreme financial harm. She had hoped to rent out the property to bring in income. Allegedly, someone was supposed to start a lease there on April 1. That person had better start filling out applications to find somewhere else to live, because the creditor hasn’t formally responded to Pinky’s claims.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta premieres on Sunday, April 5 at 8/7c. You can stream it the next day on Peacock.
