From health scares to movie premieres, and even a coming-out story—this week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta truly had it all. There was so much going on that Bravo had no choice but to make the episode supersized.
During last week’s season premiere, Porsha opened the doors to Simon’s old house for a Mystic Island dinner party. Her date that night was a guy she called her “friend friend.”
In The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 2 “Rumors and Raised Eyebrows,” Porsha fully flipped the script, introducing the group to her new “lady friend,” Sway. Things move fast in Atlanta.
What happened in The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 Episode 2?
Porsha kept things relatively tame at her Mystic Island party last week, but that all went out the window in Episode 2. This week, she threw out a major accusation about Kelli allegedly sleeping with a married man and then switched things up by introducing the world to her “lady friend.”
Meanwhile, K. Michelle took off to Nashville for the Academy of Country Music Honors, but what should have been a triumphant moment spiraled into a night at the emergency room. Keep on reading for all of the tea on this jam-packed episode of RHOA.
Porsha accused Kelli of sleeping with a married man
This episode was supersized, and Bravo made sure to utilize every single second. The drama kicked off with Porsha, Kelli, and K. Michelle meeting up at a tea house for lunch. Naturally, lots of tea was spilled.
The ladies were revisiting the Mystic Island party when K nonchalantly dropped the bombshell that Drew’s FaceTime date, Blakk Tatted, had been sliding into her DMs, too. That’s our first breadcrumb into this feud between the two that we know is coming.
The main course for this lunch involved Porsha trying to hash things out with Kelli. They’ve had an awkward dynamic, and Porsha said it felt like things turned “toxic” when Kelli got closer to Shamea.
Porsha shared a very specific example from the RHOA Season 16 Aftershow, when Kelli said that she needed “to learn how to stop trying to f*ck everybody’s husband.” According to Porsha, the comment really hurt her feelings.
Porsha said, “I think it stings more when someone is saying it, and you know you’re not clean. You know you have a past. You know what you do presently.”
So, what is it that Kelli does presently? According to Porsha, it’s married men.
Kelli and Porsha hugged it out — kind of
Although Kelli claimed that she “never” slept with a married man, Porsha said she had receipts. Allegedly, Kelli slept with some unnamed, married man during BET Awards weekend. Moments after the adulterous afair, the guy supposedly texted Porsha’s friend about it. Porsha said she saw the text right as it came through.
To be honest, this whole story sounded strange, but Porsha’s point was that she could have aired out Kelli a long time ago, but chose not to. Apparently, Kelli was supposed to be thankful that this didn’t get brought up sooner?
What was even stranger was how quickly Kelli tried to move on. She and Porsha stood up at the table and hugged it out. K. Michelle looked confused by how fast they moved on, and honestly? Same.
Unsurprisingly, this truce did not stick. Kelli didn’t mean it. She ran over to Shamea and Angela about five seconds later and told them everything that happened.
When retelling the story, Kelli did a full 180 and claimed that she only hugged Porsha to de-escalate the situation. She then proceeded to go on a full-blown tirade about Porsha, whom she’s now calling “Whorsha.” And you best believe that word got back from Porsha in record speed.
The stars aligned at Drew’s movie premiere
Two big events were happening in Atlanta this week, and the first one was Drew’s movie premiere. She starred in a movie called Run, where she was killed off within the first ten minutes by a cartoonish alien. The real action was happening in the movie theater lobby with the RHOA cast.
First off, Angela and Phaedra randomly decided to squash their beef from Season 16. They’re just standing there, right in front of the concession stand, and Angela agreed to move past things.
Phaedra was adamant that she had nothing to do with those random people who showed up at Kelli’s event last year. The Junebug controversy will remain an unsolved mystery, and Angela is choosing to let it go.
What Angela wasn’t ready to let go of was the tea she heard about Kelli and Porsha. She went up to Porsha at the premiere and asked for her side of the story. She also filled her in on all of those “Whorsha” comments Kelli kept making.
With that, Porsha realized that hugging it out didn’t fix anything, and we’ve officially got a feud on our hands. Kudos to Angela for carrying that bone because Porsha is about to run with it.
Porsha introduced her “lady friend”
Another big moment from this movie premiere: Porsha hard launched her dip into the lady pond. She introduced the group to Sway, who we now know is her partner. This comes just one episode after she introduced her “friend friend” Mike to the group. His contract must have only been for one episode, because Porsha and Sway were fully giving couple energy at the premiere.
What was amazing about this scene, where Porsha introduced Sway to the group, is just how unfazed all of the women were. No one was surprised that Porsha brought a woman as her date. We didn’t hear any homophobic microaggressions. They were just happy to see Porsha happy!
In a confessional, Porsha was similarly nonchalant about coming out. She said that her attraction to women was one of the “worst-kept secrets.” Cue the montage of all her sapphic moments from across her span on Bravo, all the way down to the psychic on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip predicting that this would happen.
Porsha admitted, “Have I dipped toes and feet and hands in the lady pond? Yeah!”
And just like that, Porsha is living in her truth.
Chicken and waffles and flowers
The next big event on the agenda was the grand opening of Kelli’s second location of Nana’s Chicken-N-Waffles. As Kelli mentioned on the show, opening this second location in Sandy Springs, Georgia, was a long, litigious road. Unfortunately, this location appears to have permanently closed shortly after this was filmed.
Still, Kelli had the support of most of the cast at the Sandy Springs launch. Porsha was a no-show, but her presence was still felt.
While the ladies were chowing down on chicken and washing it down with champagne, a huge bouquet arrived from Porsha. Inside, the card read, “Congrats, Kelli. PS, we need to talk.”
The cryptic message was not well received, and Kelli sent the flowers away. But you can’t get rid of Porsha that easily! Cynthia called Porsha and passed the phone over to Kelli.
On the phone, Porsha told Kelli congratulations, but the Waffle Queen wasn’t feeling it. She told her that the flowers she sent were “broken flowers from a broken person.”
Porsha replied, “That’s the vibe?”
Yes, it is, Porsha! This beef is just getting started.
K. Michelle got rushed to the hospital
While the ladies were chowing down with the Waffle Queen, K. Michelle jetted off to Nashville for the Academy of Country Music Honors. She paid tribute to Rissi Palmer, but navigated a wild health scare in the process. Her back-alley butt shots started having complications right before she hit the stage.
If you’ve followed K. Michelle over the years, then you already know she has had multiple surgeries to alleviate some of the complications from the illegal sillionce, but it reared its ugly head once again.
Immediately after the performance, K went to a hospital with the RHOA cameras in tow. A doctor told her that she had an open wound that became infected and would require reconstructive surgery.
K broke down in tears over the news. She said that she had no one to blame but herself. She’s caused all of this pain, all in the pursuit of achieving a certain aesthetic.
“I just hate I did this to myself,” she said through tears. “It’s the worst thing I ever did to myself.”
