Will fans be watching Season 35 of Dancing with the Stars without Mark Ballas in the ballroom? Say it isn’t so. The DWTS vet has revealed that his future for next season hasn’t been decided.
So far, Summer House star Ciara Miller and The Traitors alum Maura Higgins are set to slip on their dance shoes, along with Savannah Bananas player Jackson Olson. Both Maura and Ciara visited the Scottish highlands for Traitors, and Mark and Maura played during Season 4 of the competition series.
The DWTS Season 35 pros have not yet been revealed
Recently, Mark reunited with his Season 34 partner, Whitney Leavitt of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, for a stint on Broadway. Mark joined Whitney for a limited engagement in the musical, Chicago.
Meanwhile, Mark will be part of the new series, Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro. He will serve as a judge along with his mother, Shirley Ballas. As the title suggests, professional dancers will compete for a role as a Season 35 pro. In addition, last season’s winner, Robert Irwin, will serve as a host.
Recently, Mark addressed his future on DWTS. “I’m not sure if I’m returning yet,” Mark told US Weekly. “I just had a really solid, straight patch of Dancing with the Stars, The Traitors, The Next Pro that we just shot.”
Mark continued, “I just finished doing Chicago on Broadway, so I’m gonna take a beat for a second.” He added, “I’ll decide in the summer or in the fall. But I’m open to it.”
Then, the three-time Mirrorball champ reacted to Maura’s casting. “She manifested this. I’m so excited to see her doing the show,” he stated. He added, “They’re both Traitors alums, which is gonna be cool for them to connect on.” Mark also revealed that “the pairings haven’t been done yet,” so we will have to wait until the fall for those details.
Dancing with the Stars is available to stream on Disney+. Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro premieres on Monday, July 13, on ABC. Episodes will stream on Hulu the following day.
