Bethenny Frankel found herself in hot water this week after a small business owner accused her of failing to send a thank you message for a $4,000 birthday cake. The story comes on the heels of another small business owner, Alexia “Lexi” Ioannou, accusing Bethenny of intentionally avoiding promoting her business after she gifted the Real Housewives of New York star a free pair of shoes.
A recent DM was also exposed
On May 19, the owner of SugarHi Boca, a bakery in Boca Raton, Florida, posted a TikTok about Bethenny.
“I have debated telling this story for so long. I have a story about Bethenny Frankel,” the video began. “Last year, after we opened SugarHi in Boca. Bethenny’s assistant reached out asking us to make a huge custom cake for her birthday party in Miami.”
“We spent, give or take, $4,000, including the cost of the cake. And we drove four hours round trip to deliver it,” she explained. “The next day, Bethenny posted the cake everywhere — stories, reels, carousels, posts. Daily Mail picked it up. Food God posted it. She tagged the venue, photographer, the glam team, the videographer, everybody except us.”
The owner did note that Bethenny’s team said there was “no guarantee” that she would post the cake on her socials.
“Eventually, we got tagged in like slide 5 of a carousel after tons of people were asking where the cake was from,” the owner added. “And honestly, we got no business from it, no followers. But the part that bothered me the most wasn’t even losing the money. It was the lack of acknowledgement, not even a thank you.”
She ended the video by saying that she received another DM from Bethenny two weeks ago.
“Plot twist — two weeks ago, [Bethenny] DMs me again asking for a gift for billionaire friends who had a granddaughter,” she said. “This time, instead of offering delivery, I said, ‘When do you want to pick it up?’ Oh, surprise, she ghosted me, which tells you everything you need to know.”
