Real Housewives of Orange County star Carmella Garcia experienced some legal drama in her past. The cast for Season 20 was just announced, and Carmella made the cut for the landmark season. The newbie will be mixing it up with the newly returned OG of the OC, Vicki Gunvalson.
What to know about Carmella Garcia’s 2004 court case
Back in February, Vicki hinted that Carmella might grab an orange. The real estate agent and former Playboy Playmate of the Year had no qualms about standing up to Vicki in the RHOC Season 20 trailer. Carmella reminded Vicki, “But you’re new, too, this year.”
Naturally, this rubbed Vicki the wrong way. She responded that she “started this franchise.” And Carmella clapped back, “Everything has an expiration.” Yikes!
TMZ reported that Carmella reportedly took part in a 2004 bar fight and was accused of kicking another woman. Allegedly, Carmella was involved in an altercation with Kristen Hine. Kristen previously dated Carmella’s boyfriend, Jeff Garcia. Later, Carmella and the former NFL player tied the knot.
However, at the time of the incident, Carmella claimed that Jeff was cheating on her with Kristen. Allegedly, there were nasty voicemails and threats exchanged between Kristen and Carmella, but there is no indication of who left the threatening messages.
On August 21, 2004, at Tramp nightclub, there was a dispute between Kristen and Carmella. According to Kristen, Carmella kicked her in the head. However, Carmella claimed that she kicked one of Kristen’s friends, who was reportedly “coming at me full-force, swinging like a guy.” Carmella denied kicking Kristen, and Jeff supported her version of events.
Carmella was ultimately acquitted of misdemeanor assault. However, she was convicted of violating an order of protection. She received a $150 fine, one year of probation, and 24 hours of community service.
The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 20 premieres July 9 on Bravo, and will stream the next day on Peacock.
