Meghan Markle’s Team Pushes Back on Bankruptcy Claims — Report

Meghan Markle‘s team has denied bankruptcy, per a new report. The statement comes after online speculation about her and her husband’s finances picked up steam this week. The rumors surfaced as Prince Harry’s wife made headlines for other reasons, as she recently used her Duchess title for a paid appearance at a Melbourne women’s wellness retreat.

Insider says Meghan Markle’s bankruptcy rumors are ‘false’

A source familiar with Meghan Markle’s affairs has refuted recent bankruptcy rumors.

According to the Daily Express, an insider linked to Markle’s brand has dismissed bankruptcy rumors surrounding As Ever. The 44-year-old launched the lifestyle brand in 2025, coinciding with the release of her Netflix cooking show, With Love, Meghan, which promotes the same products.

That said, As Ever hasn’t released official sales figures. Earlier this year, reports said that the site’s traffic was up 36% since October. More recent data from the first quarter of 2026, however, showed a drop in website visits. That decline matched a dip in the Duchess’ favorability ratings in the U.S. Around the same time, insiders warned the brand might not survive past 2026.

However, a spokesperson for Markle rejected the claims, calling them “entirely false and based on speculation.”

“Recent claims suggesting that As Ever is facing financial difficulties or bankruptcy are entirely false and based on speculation rather than fact,” they told the Daily Express. “As Ever continues to grow as an independent business, supported by a strong customer community and an exciting pipeline of future products. As with any growing brand, we make decisions based on long-term planning and customer demand, not tabloid conjecture.”

To gauge the Duchess’ public standing, U.S. outlet Newsweek analyzed web traffic data alongside a new YouGov survey. According to royal editor Jack Royston, her favorability in America fell at roughly the same time the site saw a major decline in American visitors.

At the same time, Daily Mail writer Alison Boshoff pointed out that As Ever’s jam, tea, and floral sprinkle products are getting close to their expiration dates.
