The Voice Star Josh Sanders’ Custody Battle Takes a New Turn With Latest Court Filing

Josh Sanders may have come close to winning The Voice, but these days, the singer is facing a much more personal battle. The singer’s in the middle of a nasty divorce from his estranged wife, Kendra, after finishing as runner-up on Season 25 of the show.

He won over plenty of fans during his 2024 run on the NBC singing competition, where his powerhouse vocals helped carry him all the way to the finale. But these days, he’s facing drama far removed from the stage as his personal life plays out in court.

Court documents show that custody proceedings have gotten tense.

Josh and Kendra reportedly separated in January, and the custody battle that followed has become increasingly contentious, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

Josh’s latest filing asking the court for custody of the couple’s three children. He claims Kendra has interfered with his ability to co-parent and has tried to turn the children against him. Josh also alleges one of their children told him she wants to live with him.

Kendra, however, tells a different story.

In her own court filing, she described Josh as an “active alcoholic” who “drank away” professional opportunities after his time on Team Reba on The Voice. She also accused him of driving drunk with the children in the car and acting violently in front of them.

Because of those allegations, Kendra argued Josh should only have supervised visitation. She says she should have primary custody because she can “provide a stable, loving, alcohol free home” for their children.

The custody dispute has also spilled into other legal issues.

According to arrest records, Josh was arrested in April for allegedly violating a temporary domestic violence restraining order. Earlier this month, he also filed a trespassing complaint against Kendra.

Details surrounding the restraining order remain unclear. Josh reportedly claims it was related to the custody dispute.

With serious allegations coming from both sides, Josh and Kendra’s legal fight does not appear to be ending anytime soon.

The Voice Season 30 premieres in September. Past seasons stream on Peacock.
