Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly set to travel to the UK in July with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the first time in four years. While a meeting with King Charles is expected, the rift between Harry and Prince William is said to remain unchanged.
King Charles III is reportedly not actively working to repair the broken relationship between Prince Harry and Prince William
Reports suggest the brothers have not spoken since Harry stepped back from royal duties in 2020, following a fallout linked to his allegations about the Royal Family in his memoir Spare and his interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Royal expert Emily Nash told PageSix, “I certainly wouldn’t expect anything to happen on this visit. I mean, you never know,” adding, “I mean, you never know.”
The expert further said, “If it was part of a wider family gathering, it’s possible they could be at the same place at the same time. But, you know, given the very fractious nature of the relationship between William and Harry, I don’t see them rushing to spend time together just because Harry’s back in the UK.”
Nash believes King Charles III is staying out of William and Harry’s efforts to reconcile. “I think he probably is just focused on his own moment of spending time with the son he’s not seen for a long time. Especially potentially meeting his grandchildren… I’m sure that’s probably his primary focus right now.”
The Sussex family, who relocated to the United States in 2020, are expected to attend the Invictus Games event in Birmingham. Harry has made several trips to the UK since stepping back from royal duties in 2020; however, Meghan’s upcoming visit will be her first since the late Queen’s funeral in 2022, reports The Mirror.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet also visited the UK in 2022 for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, months before her passing. It is believed this was the only time King Charles had met his granddaughter. However, reports suggest William is not interested in reconciling with his estranged brother and has opposed King Charles’ decision to extend an olive branch, reports Sky News Australia.
