Meghan Markle is reportedly planning some gifts for King Charles. The Duchess of Sussex is expected to pay a visit to the U.K. next month with her family. This meeting also hopes for a reunion between the King and Prince Harry. Now, as per a source, Markle will have some special presents for her father-in-law during the tour.
Sources say Meghan Markle plans to bring As Ever jams to their reunion.
According to Rob Shuter, Meghan Markle is planning to bring products from her As Ever brand for King Charles, which would include signature jams and preserves. “Meghan knows the King loves gardening, organic produce, and homemade foods,” a source told the outlet. Moreover, the “Suits” alum “believes the jams are thoughtful because they’re something she created herself.” The source continued, “She wants the gift to feel personal, not extravagant.”
However, the timing has allegedly raised eyebrows. As speculation around Markle’s return to the U.K. grows, the businesswoman has increased the promotion of her brand. “That’s the dilemma with Meghan,” a royal insider stated. “Is it a heartfelt peace offering or brilliant brand marketing? With her, those two things often happen at the same time.” But those close to Markle reportedly insist there is no hidden agenda. “She’s not expecting the King to post about the jam on Instagram,” one source shared.
The 44-year-old actress “simply wants to arrive with something warm and homemade instead of an expensive royal-style gift.” Nevertheless, palace insiders are reportedly skeptical. An insider said, “The Palace has seen plenty of reconciliation gestures over the years.” They added, “This may be the first one that comes with a product label.” Moreover, the individual explained that “some people will find it charming,” while “others will wonder if the gift doubles as free advertising.”
Recently, royal commentator Amanda Matta also shared that Markle’s presence during the trip can increase reunion chances. She told Page Six, “If Meghan accompanies Harry to the UK or to a meeting with his family, it would signal to the public that any effort at rebuilding relationships extends to the Sussex family as a whole.”
