The relationship troubles between Luke Broderick and his fiancée, Kristen Doute, were evident to fans watching The Valley. The duo’s relationship changed after the birth of their daughter, Kaia. While Kristen craved more help and support, Luke felt criticized and overlooked. The tension escalated as the couple struggled to navigate parenthood and Kristen’s postpartum journey.
The Valley fans were floored by Luke Broderick’s comments to Kristen Doute

During the cast trip to Mexico, Luke vented to Jesse Lally following an argument with Kristen. Big mistake! “I can’t do this forever,” Luke told his pal. “If things do not improve from here, there’s not going to be a wedding.”
Naturally, Jesse spilled the beans to a horrified Kristen. She tried to reassure Luke that they were just deep in the postpartum experience and that everything would get better. During The Valley Season 3 Episode 17, Kristen and Luke attended their first couples therapy session.
Eventually, Kristen brought up Luke’s feelings about marrying her. He explained the reason for his wedding comment in Mexico. According to Luke, “blaming me for things and built-up frustrations” led to his remark. Plus, the number of divorces in their friend group was also a concern.
“When you got down on one knee in the most beautiful way and proposed to me before we got pregnant with our daughter, none of that was of topic,” Kristen stated. “And pregnant Kristen’s someone I hadn’t met yet,” Luke responded.
“That … is a zinger,” Kristen said. “Yeah. That was a big thing to say,” the psychologist stated.
“I have gone through some like depressive times,” Luke shared, “and my mind has been like, ‘Did I f*ck up?’” Of course, none of this was easy for Kristen to hear. “That was a gut punch,” she noted in her confessional.
The Valley airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo. Episodes will stream on Peacock.
