RHOC’s Gina Kirschenheiter Discusses How To Play the Reality TV Game

RHOC star Gina Kirschenheiter has often been judged by viewers. Fans of The Real Housewives of Orange County were initially unsure about Gina, especially amid Season 17 where she often flew under the radar. However, by the Season 17 reunion, Gina showed her strengths and growth, cementing herself as one of the season’s winners.

Ultimately, Gina picked her battles well. Fans saw her choice to call out Shannon Beador as completely warranted, especially amid her DUI situation. As someone who grappled with DUIs herself, Gina was justified in commenting on the situation.

Moreover, her apology to Jennifer Pedranti, as well as her choice to defend Heather Dubrow, made it clear she was in the right. So, with all her recent wins under her belt, Gina must’ve decided the time was right to offer advice to other present and future reality TV stars.

Gina recently appeared on Jason Tartick’s podcast, Trading Secrets. She posted a clip from her time there on her TikTok, wherein she said, “At the end of the day,  who you are is your brand, especially in the reality world. And if you want to have other professional opportunities outside of reality or after reality, that should be the number one priority.”

Later, she said her career moves were “part of why I also stopped drinking. I want to get more serious about my career and the moves that I want to make and that was getting in my way.” She explained that fans approaching her while drunk wouldn’t be a great look. Gina stressed that her advice was for “anyone who wants to become a heart of a reality television series.”

She further emphasized that “there’s an automatic life expectancy” on reality TV stardom. “You could be on it for 12 years or one year. The lifers usually make sacrifices to be able to be lifers. And the sacrifices are usually, like, personal integrity.” The implication was that, since all reality stars become obsolete, it would be better to build a brand than more time on reality TV.
