Reasons Why Andy Cohen Would Be Missed if He Retired From Bravo

Andy Cohen has been a staple at Bravo since 2004 when he was named Vice-President of Original Programming. Simply put, the man is a legend. Andy’s name and face are synonymous with Bravo and NBCUniversal, so thinking about him leaving the network at any moment is terrifying. Andy can’t leave right now because we fans need him to keep us up to date on everything that makes Bravo so great.

He knows the history

Andy is the host with the most. Over the years, he sits in his chair, grilling the stars of Bravo. Thankfully, most of the time, Andy asks the hard questions that viewers are dying to know. Between the Real Housewives, Southern Charm, Married to Medicine, and the other shows, Andy has to be on his toes. There are years of episodes and knowledge that Andy has to remember. It isn’t easy, as even the most die-hard of fans don’t always remember everything.

Andy sometimes shows that he has favorites, but honestly, who doesn’t? After years of airing the series, viewers can easily develop a clear set of loyalties. So why would Andy be any different? Even though he might need to be a bit more diplomatic, he does the best any super fan can. And in the end, that is all we can ask for. If the network were to replace him, I don’t know how long the newbie would take to brush up on all the history.

Andy is trusted

Andy delivers the news and drama that all fans need to know. Personally, if it comes from Andy, I believe it. I mean, he is the King of Bravo for a reason. He knows the ins and outs of the network and has first-hand gossip right at his fingertips. Andy’s job is to stir the pot and address the emotions behind many of the fights. I appreciate how Andy doesn’t concern himself with the thoughts of others and sticks to his honest opinions. No matter what reunion or Watch What Happens Live episode I am tuning into, I know Andy will be providing good quality entertainment.

Best boss ever

Apparently, Andy is a pretty great guy to work for. I mean, look at how current Bravo talent and past Bravo talent always love visiting the kingpin. Even though some might think Andy could be too good to be true, he isn’t. He’s just a gem of a man. Andy’s longtime assistant, Daryn Carp, confirmed this theory while talking to The Daily Dish. Andy’s PA noted, “I mean, he’s honestly the nicest person, the nicest boss I could ask for. I just feel very lucky to be in his orbit, if you will.” According to Daryn, Andy has never once raised his voice. Now we know that can’t be said for all bosses.

Daryn reflected, “I remember one time there was a black tie event, and I forgot to tell him, so he wore this mint green suit. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m never going to hear the end of this. I totally messed up…’ And so many people tweeted at him to be like, ‘Isn’t that your assistant’s job to tell you?’ And he never threw me under the bus; he never throws anybody under the bus.” It seems like Andy is, in fact, the great motivator.

Is Andy leaving Bravo?

This past week has Bravo fans in a tizzy as rumors spiraled that Andy may be negotiating a leaving package. Andy has his hands on many shows when it comes to Bravo, and with Watch What Happens Live now hitting the 15-year mark, there are no signs that the father of two will be slowing down. Bravo fans have had a busy last week of high-profile news with Robyn Dixon and Candiace Dillard-Bassett leaving the Real Housewives of Potomac, Bette Midler noting she would like to join the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and a slew of lawsuits from Caroline Manzo, Leah McSweeny, and Brandi Glanville.

But Andy knows how to hold his ground. I think it would be difficult for someone else to step into Andy’s shoes because he is an icon—a Bravo treasure. Now, eventually, Andy, like everyone else in the working world, will choose to retire. But it will be on his own accord, and there will most likely be a massive celebration in his honor. We can all bask in the safety net that Andy isn’t leaving us for a while now.
