Kyle Cooke took a fertility test during a recent episode of Summer House because he was concerned about the viability of his sperm. The Loverboy founder is considering a future that includes children with his wife, Amanda Batula, and wants to be prepared.
The Summer House couple have gone back and forth for several seasons as to whether to start a family or not. More recently, Amanda seemed to be pumping the brakes and wanting to focus on her mental health. But on Season 9, Episode 13, Kyle at least had an answer about his fertility should they decide to proceed on the issue.
There was “concern” surrounding Summer House star Kyle Cooke’s fertility
A prior “little red flag” on his blood work sparked “concern” that the Bravolebrity’s “nuts are workaholics.” As such, Kyle’s fertility was in question. But after a virtual appointment with his “sperm doctor,” the Loverboy founder was reassured.
“I’m, candidly, nervous going into this,” Kyle shared of waiting for the results. “There’s always a chance that, like, I’m sterile, right? But also, in the back of my mind, I’m thinking about Amanda potentially ruling out kids forever. So, there’s a lot riding on my sperm count.”
It turns out that Kyle is performing far above average. His motile sperm count was 159 million. For reference, the minimum needed for viable sperm is 20 million.
“He’s like, ‘You could get someone pregnant by sneezing on them,'” Kyle joked to his cast mates.
“A lot of what I would consider givens in our relationship over the years have changed, but I feel like there are moments it’d be nice to get a little, like, affection and attention out of her,” he said in a confessional interview. “I am just realizing that when I’m ready [to have kids], she might not be, and that is … something I never even saw coming.”
Later in the episode, Kyle confessed to producers, “I just wanna feel like she cares. I wanna feel like she’s invested in our future. I wanna feel like she’s my person. And if we are pushing pause and kind of continue to grow and change, I just wanna make sure we’re doing it together.”
Amanda shares her thoughts on the matter
West Wilson asked Amanda to share her thoughts on the test results during a dinner with several of her cast mates. Just one episode prior, she was saying that it wouldn’t be a tragedy if Kyle was sterile. The swimsuit designer joked, “Are we at all surprised that his sperm is working overtime?”
“We’ve had many conversations about it, but we’re just not there yet. Not there yet at all,” Amanda added when West asked if the test results changed their timeline to have children.
“This is the first time in years that I’ve felt like myself again,” Amanda explained in a confessional interview. “Being pregnant will knock me off my ass. Then, there’s, like, postpartum [depression] to worry about, which, if I’m already depressed, [I] don’t need to double down on that just yet. I just wanna feel normal for, like, a few months. I just wanna be hot and happy.”
In a private conversation later in the episode, Amanda told her husband that she was “happy” with the results. She said, “If something was wrong, I would’ve been right by your side and I would’ve done everything I could,” she told her husband. “But you were fine. I knew you were gonna be fine.”
