Teddi Mellencamp, former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member and co-host of the Two Ts in a Pod podcast alongside RHOC’s Tamra Judge, has shared a difficult update in her fight against cancer.
Diagnosed with skin cancer in 2022, she revealed earlier this year that the disease was stage 4 and had spread to her brain and lungs. Since then, she has undergone multiple surgeries, radiation, and immunotherapy. Now, she says her body needs a break.
In the latest episode of her podcast, Teddi opened up about how physically and emotionally draining treatment has become, and why doctors are now hitting pause.
Teddi Mellencamp feels “so sick” from her cancer treatment
Teddi shared the emotional update on the July 23 episode of Two Ts in a Pod. Speaking candidly to Tamra, she revealed that recent symptoms forced her to stop immunotherapy.
“Essentially, I haven’t been feeling good for about a month, which was kind of shocking to me,” she said. “I think, mentally, it did a lot to me.”
Teddi said she felt strong after initial treatment. But over time, her body began reacting differently. “Why do I feel like I can barely open my eyes or keep my words straight?” she recalled asking.
She rushed to the doctor. After scans, they discovered the treatment, not the cancer, was causing her worsening symptoms.
“They did a bunch of scans and everything’s looking good, everything’s shrinking,” she explained. “So it’s showing that why I medically feel so sick is from the immunotherapy.”
Her medical team recommended pausing treatment. “So we’re going to take a little break on the immunotherapy to get my body back feeling stronger,” Teddi said. “And I’m on steroids and we’re doing everything that we can to get me back to feeling like I can do this, I can do all the things.”
“I’ve never once felt that way until recently, and it’s it’s heartbreaking,” she added.
Still, there’s hope. “They checked my lungs, and they are shrinking, and one of them has shrunk so much you can barely even see it.” Her doctor confirmed, “Everything’s just heading the correct way.”
The update came days after an attempted break-in at the Los Angeles home Teddi shares with her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave and their kids. Police responded quickly, and no one was harmed.
“He’s had to step in and help me because I, some days, can’t do it,” Teddi said of Edwin.
