There is no denying the strained relationship between Prince Harry and King Charles. The father and son pair have not spent time together in 19 months. The connection between the royal family and Harry is complicated. It started when his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped away from her royal duties for life in California. The couple has put their creative pursuits ahead of the royals. Rumors have swirled that it might be for good reason, with alleged racism thrown at Meghan.
Both the royals and Harry have their own reasons for distancing themselves from one another. Harry has only made a handful of appearances in the United Kingdom since his father was made king. He attended the funeral of his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. He was at his father’s coronation. Their time together is few and far between at this point. For the first time in well over a year, Harry and Charles reunited in the UK.

Harry was visiting Imperial College London’s Centre for Blast Injury Studies. He is currently in town for the WellChild awards. Before heading off to meet with the King, fans stopped him for autographs and selfies. He took the time to do both things. He said something to his fans that hinted he wasn’t on time for something important.
“I have to go, I’m so late … I’ve got to go, I’ve got to go. Nice to meet you guys,” Harry said, according to the Daily Mail. His fans didn’t know what he was late for until the news broke. Harry was meeting with his father.
Shortly after the run-in with fans, Harry had been photographed arriving by car at Clarence House. At the London home of King Charles and Queen Camilla, the three reunited over tea. The gathering was private.
