After a lot of inertia regarding The Real Housewives of New York, there are indications that production is moving forward. Andy Cohen remains mum on specifics, but is hinting that some decisions were made on casting for Season 16.
Season 15 premiered in October 2024 to higher hopes than what was delivered. Ratings flopped. And the cast felt so disjointed after the toxic finale episode. It was officially put on hiatus, but never cancelled.
Andy Cohen remained tight-lipped on the 2025 RHONY cast
Andy and Sean Avery discussed RHONY’s future on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live show. Bravo’s executive producer said that “new” housewives are confirmed.
Sean asked, “Interesting, and has that been determined yet?” Andy responded, “A few have been determined.” However, the decision is “unannounced” and the higher ups at Bravo “haven’t rounded it out yet.”
Full time cast member Brynn Whitfield officially quit the show after two seasons. Friend of the cast, Rebecca Minkoff announced her exit in February 2025. So there is the potential for at least two new housewives.
However, Sean pressed on to get a more exact answer on “how many seats” Bravo is “filling.” He suggested “four,” which would be a “big turnover” for a show that just revamped the entire cast for Season 14.
Andy stated, “I can neither confirm nor deny.”
Speculation abounds as to who will return from the former group. Erin Lichy is more than keen, but is the interest there? Cast favorite Jessel Taank seems a top contender for an apple.
During their radio show, Sean specifically asked if “fire” Ubah Hassan was “coming back?” Once again, Andy played coy. He said, “Is Ubah coming back? We will see.”
“I love Ubah,” Sean continued. “I love somebody that can go from zero to 180 in like a matter of seconds, and she was fun. Wild. I didn’t know what she was thinking at any point in time.”
Ubah is certainly good for reality TV. But as she is newly engaged to Oliver Dachsel, perhaps returning is not a priority for the professional model. It’s all speculation at this point.
