When Bravo announced that Monique Samuels would return to The Real Housewives of Potomac, we all immediately started thinking about Candiace Dillard Bassett. Some of us were also thinking about T’Challa, but mainly Candiace. The occasionally controversial Housewife departed the series after Season 8, but how does she feel seeing her arch nemesis back on the show?
The Reality Rundown caught up with Candiace at Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea Awards this week, and she had a surprising response to that question. Apparently, she’s letting Jesus take the wheel.
Candiace Dillard Bassett still sees a path forward starring on RHOP alongside Monique Samuels
The hard line between Monique and Candiace reminds many fans of the rift between Kandi Burruss and Phaedra Parks on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. However, Candiace signaled that her and Monique’s situation wasn’t as black and white.
“I understand Kandi’s plight. I understand where she sits,” Candiace began. “If I need to bargain to be somewhere, I don’t need to be there, and if I need to be there, if I want to be there, there’s no living or dead soul that is going to preclude me from being there.”
She continued, “So, I am where I am right now. If and when the time comes, if the Lord says it’s time to go back, I follow Jesus. If it’s not time to go back, there’s so many other things that I’m excited about that I’m working on.”
Candiace concluded her statement by reiterating that she’s “grateful” for the RHOP platform and that it has a special place in her heart. She’s not seething over Monique’s new role on the show, and it sounds like Candiace has her hands full right now anyway.
“I have so many projects that need my attention, and a whole baby, and a whole husband, and a mama. There’s a lot of people in this camp that need my attention, so I’m not hurting or missing anything at this time,” Candiace said.
