Arnold Schwarzenegger Defends Donald Trump; Attacks Democrats in Two States

The former governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been involved in politics for decades. After his term came to a close, Arnold continued to be politically active. The former Republican shared that he no longer aligns with the party; rather, he loves policy.

As a vocal critic of Donald Trump, it wasn’t a surprise. Passionate about climate change, Arnold has found Trump’s policies disastrous for our environment. While he may have stood strong against Trump during the 2024 elections, he has changed his tune. He recently spoke to Jake Tapper on CNN, where he shared that some states are preventing Trump supporters from being represented in the House.

Massachusetts and New Mexico were criticized for gerrymandering by Arnold when he appeared on State of the Union with Jake. With California’s Prop 50 hitting the ballot this November, which would redistrict and reshape congressional seats, Arnold spoke out.

“There is such extreme gerrymandering going on that in a state like Massachusetts, it has like 40 percent of the people voting for Trump, they only — they have zero representatives,” he told Jake. “The Republican Party has zero representatives sent to the House — think about that.”

Jake tried to push back, saying that Republicans started the gerrymandering, but Arnold disagreed. “In New Mexico, 45 percent of the people voted for Trump and vote Republican, and zero [are] sent to the House — zero representatives from the Republican Party,” he said.

He finished his statement by adding, “What the Democrats should do is they should outperform Trump. To me, it‘s all about competition creates performance,” he explained. “And so what they do is with the redistricting commission is that they‘re going to go and try to draw the district lines in such a way that they get voted in, no matter if they work well or not for the American people. So the American people get cheated on this whole thing. That is really the problem here.”
