King Charles celebrated his 77th birthday on November 14 with wife, Queen Camilla, in Cyfarthfa Castle, South Wales. The castle, built in 1825 and one of the area’s notable historic sites, is now a museum and art gallery. It has undergone an extensive restoration over the years.
The monarch was celebrated by locals who attended, including the Royal Osteoporosis Society and other patronages of the couple. Welsh comedy actress and writer Ruth Jones, co-creator with James Cordon of the BBC hit Gavin & Stacey, was in attendance. Also among the guests was designer Julien Macdonald and local businesses like Cocos Coffee and Candles and Enaid Wellness.

Charles’ birthday celebration began with messages from his son Prince William and his wife Princess Kate. The couple sent their best wishes on social media, according to People. Buckingham Palace also thanked those who sent birthday messages to the King.
After cutting his birthday cake alongside Camilla and his guests, Charles greeted the locals outside the castle grounds. He then made his way to Taffs Well, near Cardiff, to visit South Wales’ new metro depot. The station will house a fleet of 36 state-of-the-art tram-trains, a highlight of the area’s new transport system. After touring one of the trains, Charles officially opened the depot. While Charles greeted staff, a message in Welsh wished him a happy birthday.
The new station is expected to promote a more environmentally friendly service for the region and transport network. When the tram-trains begin running, the depot will employ 400 people from the area.
It has been a challenging time for the royal family. King Charles recently removed his brother’s royal titles and banished him from his home. The former Prince Andrew has undergone scrutiny for his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew is featured prominently in the book, Nobody’s Girl, written by Virginia Giuffre, who claims she was trafficked to Andrew. He settled out of court for an undisclosed amount and denies any wrongdoing.
