Bravo Housewives Participate In NOH8 Campaign

Housewives of New Jersey's Dina Manzo with daughter Lexi

Two of Bravo’s housewives are getting in on the popular NOH8 campaign. Dina Manzo (pictured above with daughter Lexi) and Kim Zolciak (of The Real Housewives of Atlanta) recently shot some promotional pictures for the campaign.

The NOH8 (no hate) campaign was created to help raise awareness for marriage equality in California.

Kim tweeted Tuesday, “the noh8 campaign shoot was hot. and I am topless!!! Just to cause a stir to make people pay attention!”

  1. This may be a dumb question, but if this campaign is made to raise awareness of a situation in CALIFORNIA, why did “housewives” from NEW JERSEY and GEORGIA pose for the campaign? Wouldn’t it have made more sense to get Gretchen and Alexis or some of the others from OC to do this?

  2. Lizzie, I totally agree with your comment. This ad makes no sense to me. Why is she topless? I can see PETA doing topless – no fur- shots but for a campaign about gay marriage rights? I don’t see the connection. Not too mention these are straight (some married) women doing the pictures. STUPID!

  3. It is definitly nice to see people in the public eye showing support…but I dont get this ad either.
Why does Kim have duct tape on her nipples?

  4. I think it is wonderful that some of the “Housewives” are participating in the NOH8 Campaign! I think the connection is that the Housewives shows have a huge gay following, and I know that Dina has a least one brother that is gay. The more people/ celebrities showing support the better. I think Kim’s ad was for the shock value possibly, who knows? Whatever works. I say Thank-You Ladies for showing your support.

  5. I don’t have a problem with the NOH8 Campaign! I also agree that the more the merrier HOWEVER what I don’t understand (and I specifically stated this) is why she’s doing the photos topless with duct tape on her nipples? I don’t see it as shock value. I see it as a tasteless way for her to promote HERSELF vs the campaign. I personally don’t see NOH8 jumping out from the photo other than small marking on her cheek and really, who’s going to be looking at her cheek in a photo like that? I think its done in poor taste.

  6. The first reason for the NOH8 campaign ads by the “celebrity” housewives is to garner national support by using their celebrity status. It’s the same as famous people who campaign to drink milk, or any other brand. The proposition may be in California, however, gay marriage is a national issue. When the proposition was voted upon, it was a major blow nationwide, not just in California because California is considered a more liberal state. If Prop. 8 had success there, the outlook seems even more dismal overall. Secondly, the purpose of getting married and straight women to participate is that it obviously takes the majority to win a vote. Gay people in the minority. Therefore, coalitions and alliances with others who believe in the cause will ultimately help to win it. In the same manner that straight people have felt it was their business to be opposed to gay marriage, there are other straight people who feel it is their business to say marriage is a right that any couple-straight or gay-should enjoy it as well.

  7. Oh and as for Kim’s “overexposure”…well I can’t explain that one. Like you Carmen, I suspect that she did it more for her own exposure…she could probably give less than a rip about Prop. 8. For her, it was just another way her…”face”…could be seen…

  8. Whatever! It makes people look and read the campaigne! It brings awareness to the cause. Which is what the point is anyway, right? Some people are so negative! (or jealouse…)
