Usually, finale episodes of the Housewives franchise tend to be a somewhat boring send off, but that definitely was not the case with the Real Housewives of Orange County season finale.
We saw Tamra and her husband Simon Barney reach a blowing point in a fight, unlike any that has ever been on reality TV. If there were any viewers doubting the authenticity of this show, that blow-up should be evident enough that this is all too real. Below is a rather long recap and mostly my thoughts on the stars of the show.
Tamra and Simon – I have to start off with these two. Wow is an understatement. Simon’s behavior on last night’s episode was beyond controlling, it was down right creepy and emotionally abusive. Tamra is without saying one of my least favorite housewives, but watching last night’s show really made me feel very sympathetic towards her. This woman was very afraid of her husband. The way he kept trying to “make-up” with her when they got out of the limo was hard to watch. Add on his passive aggressive hostility, and this man is truly a piece of work. My question is has he always been this way? Because this Simon we’re seeing was not the same one Bravo showed us the past couple of seasons. He is truly awful. A while back, I heard a very nasty rumor about Simon and something he allegedly did to Tamra, I chose not to write about this because it is a very big accusation to throw out there, and not something I would want to put out there unless I was 100% certain. I will tell you something, watching him last night, I will say I believe this rumor. I’m not going to say what it is, but you readers are smart, and I know you can figure out the most awful thing a man can do to his wife, other than cheating.
Lynne and daughters – Just when you think Lynne couldn’t become a worse parent, she manages to prove us wrong. This woman is so out of it that she couldn’t even tell her own underage daughters were drunk. Any good parent would have been mortified and humiliated by the behavior of her daughters, but now our darling Lynne. She was more worried about how she looked. She really needs to snap out of it and come back to planet earth. I however felt some sympathy for Alexa yesterday when she mentioned being tired of everyone bringing up their eviction. Kids can be mean, and I’m sure going to school and having the entire world know your business has to be difficult for any teenager. Alexa is the reason why I’m a bit against the housewives putting their children on this show. It’s just not healthy to have the whole world know every intimate detail about them. From what I read recently, Alexa has dropped out of school and is now being home schooled by Lynne. Yes you read that right. And how sweet and mature was it of Kara Keough to comfort Alexa last night?
Gretchen and Slade – Moving on to these two. Gretchen made a comment last night that really threw me off a bit. She called Slade “a great catch.” For some reason, I felt like that comment said a lot about her. Not saying that Slade is a loser, but to call him a “great” catch at this point and time is definitely a stretch. And then looking back on her past choices in men, mainly the loser known as Jay Photoglou, it all made sense. This woman must have some self esteem/self-worth issues, and perhaps some daddy issues. I’m guessing daddy didn’t hug her enough when growing up or something. She also strikes me as one of those women that doesn’t like to be single and therefore refuses to be single, thus dating anything anyone that comes her way. Before this season started, I suspected her relationship with Slade was fake, but after watching this season, it seems the relationship is all too real, which makes it all the more puzzling.

Alexis and Jim – Yeah these two have been very controversial this season, and I’m well aware a lot of readers do not like her, which is understandable. When the season first started, I was certain I wasn’t going to like Alexis, especially after this story detailing her first divorce came out. But as the season went along, I actually started to really like Alexis. Why you might ask? Well mainly because she seemed to be a genuinely nice and sweet person. Yes she might be a bit hypocritical and superficial, but for the most part, she was a nice person. Her major flap this season was the confrontation with the lady she accused of hitting on Jim. I personally felt her confrontation with Vicki was much needed, whether or not Vicki’s daughter was there. As a commenter pointed out last week, Vicki herself admitted she brought her sick daughter along on the trip in hopes it would lead to the other housewives not confronting her. I actually feel some sympathy for Alexis because I do believe she is a controlling marriage with a man who sometimes puts her down. Did she marry Jim for money? Who knows, but she does appear to truly love him and unfortunately can’t see just how controlling he is.
Vicki and Donn – Oh Vicki Vicki Vicki. I know a lot of people like her now and think she’s now this wonderful woman. I however am not so convinced. Was she nicer to her husband this season? Yes, but at the end of the day, I still saw the same ol Vicki from the previous 4 seasons. Gotta love how she threw her good friend Jeana under the bus during the beginning of the season regarding the money issue. I just think she’s a mean human being who treats others badly. I also don’t think she’ll ever change, nor do I think she’s capable of changing.
With that said, no matter what we all think of these housewives, they all have redeeming qualities about them. For example, it was very sweet watching Vicki comfort Tamra last night, and being there for her. This season of the OC was a good one, a little too long in my opinion, but still good. It was nice seeing the former housewives last night as well, and their families.

U scare me sometimes because u say all the things I b thinking while watching O.C..Now I can’t Lie I love Alexis. She 2 me seems 2 b the realest 1..she & Jim May have a “controlling marriage” 2 some but what I see is them trying 2 live n what god set fourth. In the bible a woman is supposed 2 submit 2 her husband. Now as far as Vicki, I do Like her better this season, didn’t like they yellow dress. She is WAY 2 damn old for that but love 2 see her treat Don Better. He is a good man & she needs 2 realize before she finds herself single & looking..Now as far as the Barneys NEVER like Simone & Tamara is 2 me gettn what she deserved because she put her marriage/life on a pedalstool a long time & down Gretchen for things when she is Screwing her husbands friend. .& she had the nerve 2 talk about Gretchen. Now on 2 Gretchen I like her a lot. Yea she lied about Jay but she was very honest about the 2.8 million dollars & I loved that..Slade is a bum & Gretchen can do WAYYYY better but if she like it I Love it lmao. That’s is all..
A little off topic…but I watched the top 25 moments of the real housewives and moment #23 when Jo lost the bet to Slade and had to “clean” the house in a French maids uniform well there is a close up shot of Slade literally licking his chops I saw that and threw up in my mouth he is soooooo skeeeevie ugh!!
I have never been a big fan of Tamra, but really felt bad for her this season. I thought she was honest about the short sale and their fianancial situation. I have always thought Simon was a creep you can see by the way he talked to Tamra about Ryan in the past. Also, I think some of her attitude toward Gretchen was actually Simon’s feelings not hers. It is obvious that he tries to control everything she does. I am sure when they met he seemed like a good catch that could take care of her, but obviously he wanted to control her. I could not beleive the way he wanted to know what her and Vicki were talking about, and all the bashing of Vicki and Donn was just weird. I feel better getting that off my chest.

I was thinking the same thing,even on the previews on the Bravo website, her face does look smaller, maybe it’s the camera angle. Also she must really be tall,she looks akward on the couch to me, like big.

I also wanted to get this off my chest. In the TV movie about Ike & Tina Turner Ike says to Tina regarding the beatings “Can you imagine what you would be if I hadn’t done it?”
I was so reminded of that line when Simon says in one of his testimonials that “Yes, he might be controlling but can you imagine what she’d BE if he weren’t?” Creeeeepy. Not good.

Jenny: that response wasn’t from me, the REAL puhp, it was from someone who just wants to be me. They turn up whenever I make biting comments about Gretchen and Slade. They are so traumatized by them that their personality actually starts to split. It’s probably due to the fact that they take the comments way too personally and can’t rebutt them in a way that is actually effective or true. RT has to track their IP b/c they ruin the integrity of the board w/ their OH SO FUNNY! comments.
I’m sure there are alot of veteran viewers of the show that can answer your Q.
Ryan is what? 23? Tamra and Simon were married 11 years? That would mean that Ryan was already close to his teen years when Simon came into the picture. That’s a tough age under the best circumstances, and I remember Tamra saying that Ryan was a handful as a school-aged kid. He was the only child and it was just him and Tamra for all those years — then here comes this man and a few more kids. I’m not saying Ryan is right or Simon is wrong — just that it was probably a really tough situation for both of them right from the start.
And I think RT is off the mark in her assessment of Gretchen’s situation. I think Gretchen got way too many hugs from her daddy (if you know what I mean) and that’s why she goes after older guys. Remember last year when she was at the lake prancing around almost naked, hanging on her father and kissing him on the mouth? She said then that she has always had a relationship with her father that most people find weird. I wondered then what she meant, but I think I’m starting to figure it out.
And “Fake Puhp” — no need to respond. It’s time for you to go back to school, Debra.
Gretchen has daddy issues, that’s for sure. I agree w/ you Lizzie. I’ve remember girls I knew in childhood who had inappropriate ‘daddy’s girl’ relationships w/ their fathers who have the same issues as Gretchen as adults. Emotially stunted, attention whores who squeal w/ delight at the sight of a gift from their much older provider/sugadaddy. Never had any direction in their lives, always all over the place b/c the first priority is tracking down a provider. Her foray into retail will fail b/c she doesn’t have a mind for business. If she did, she wouldn’t choose such a saturated market to begin with. It’s not about providing a quality, useful product to begin w/. It’s all about self promotion and seeing big blown up pictures of herself all around her.

I don’t feel the need to defend or compare Tamra w/ Gretchen the way that you do, but since you’ve once again taken it there, I would say that Tamra owns her hurt and disappointment she has w/ her family. Gretchen can do no wrong. She never admits that she’s anything but perfect on the show. She never has anything nice or complimantary to say about any of the housewives. Her jealous nature always comes through by default, just like yours.

Since Jeana’s house went on the auction block last Friday but I like her and dont want to see her lose the remaining vestige of her fake over leveraged life, let’s move all the housewives and their insignificant others into her home. It will be “Survivor the Housewives Edition” and the viewers can vote one off per week. The last one standing wins the house and can keep it free and clear or give it back to Jeana.
Of course someone will need to notify Lynne when she is voted off because she won’t understand and won’t leave…

At last count i think she had four (one for each child and the one they lived in)…last summer she was trying to get loan mods on all four but lenders wont let you loan mod that many. She may have sold them (check realestalker.com, a celeb real estate site).
She may just be too embarrassed at this point to talk about it since she projected the high flying lifestyle for so long one would have to wonder where all the cash went…

For a minute I thought you were heading in the direction of a ‘LOST’ theme where there would be flashbacks and inexplicable scenes cut and pasted to keep the viewers from understanding the depths of their stupidity. Jeana’s husband can appear once in a while and say ‘I’ll take the child.’ Alexa would be the first to be taken to the basement. That’s all I ask.

I like Jeana and I had hopes that she would beat the economic slump. The problem is that these women and their men want to live like multi-millionaires when their income is barely enough to put sheets on the beds and food on the table.

Maybe that is one of the reasons Jeanna left the show,maybe she didn’t want all this stuff on film for all of America to see, like Lynne,and Tamra’s money problems. It was bad enough when Vicki threw her under the bus about not lending her money on national t.v. You are right maybe she was/is embarrassed, I don’t blame her.

7) my two cats are slightly overweight but, what are you going to do?

Rhonda: I would say the wine cellar would be more befitting. They can run an intravenous IV of wine through her body. Maybe then she will be contented. I don’t watch LOST either. I stopped after the second season w/ the ‘hatch’ nonsense. I do like the idea of finding the surreal stripper pole academy taking place at the bottom of the hatch.

i have family in Ohio! I live literally minutes away from where all these Housewives wackos live (sadly, but I think I was here first).
I am not watching the Oscar pre shows cuz I’m scared one of these Housewives are gonna pop up behind a real celebrity and that would scare me (hee hee)…I mean they are everywhere you turn these days…Back in the old days with the first season or two they “knew their place” and stayed in their “hoods. They are not known for having any actual talents or contributing anything of value so why they are in all of these magazines and all of these shows I cannot fathom. Now my cats want THEIR own show…where does it all end?

Do you guys have any favorites for best picture? I liked Invictus the best but don’t know if it made the cut. My cats love the Oscars, with all of those musical scores playing in the backround. It will be the first Oscars for my 2 teen kitties.

Nope, have not seen them. Would hope I would not laugh if I did. Leslie actually drives by Gretchen’s house (dont know what THATS all about). I guess I dont care enough to waste my gas but she does live around the corner from the pet store I frequent. I dont think she’s home alot based on her twitter comments (vegas, new york, san diego, fantasyland, etc etc…)

Gretchen Rossi stars in “Could She BE Any Stoopider???”
I haven’t seen the Hurt Locker yet, but wanted to before the Oscars. I thought Avatar sucked. % was watching Geraldo yesterday and he had a lawyer on who is representing a soldier who claims they ripped off his story. Everything from his backround, to terminology they used on their missions and the missions themselves. He wrote a short story about his experience there that was published in a newpaper I believe. After hearing that I’m having second thoughts. He should be paid if they stole his story.
