Move over Bravo Housewives! There are some new wives on the block! Pictured above from left to right are Jennifer Williams, Royce Reed, Erikka Moxam, Shaunie O’Neal, Evelyn Lozada, Suzie Ketchem and Gloria Govan, the cast of VH1′s Basketball Wives.
The show will follow the extraordinary lives of seven women who are best friends and either the wife, ex-wife or girlfriend of an NBA superstar. There has also been some major cast changes since the show was first announced last year.
The series will showcase the lives of these women as they drive the best cars, live in the biggest mansions, wear designer clothes and jewelry and only travel first class. However, viewers will quickly see that all that glitters is not gold. In order to protect it, they have to deal with the jealousies and dramas of living in — and staying in — the inner circle.
The most recognizable of the women will have to be Shaunie O’Neal, soon to be ex-wife of Shaquille O’Neal. Basketball Wives premieres on VH1 Sunday, April 11 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
From what we’ve seen and heard, the show will NOT dissapoint. We also have brief bios and photos of each of the ladies, as well as some secrets and scandals involving the ladies. More of that below -
Royce Reed – The 29 year-old is college educated, and a former Orlando Magic dancer. Royce is described as a firecracker, a strong-minded, driven woman who is no stranger to confrontation. She is also the ex-girlfriend of NBA star Dwight Howard. The two have a son together. Royce is pictured on the right with son Braylon Howard, born on November 18, 2007. Dwight however waited until 2008 to publicly acknowledge his son.
There has also been some major drama between Royce and her ex. After some reports hit the web that Dwight was a bully and a less than stellar father, Dwight took his son’s mother to court accusing her of cyber bashing him, and suing her for $9,205,000 in damages. The douchebag didn’t stop there. He also took Royce to court back in December 2009, requesting that she not be allowed to speak his name on the reality show. Royce has agreed to this according to reports.
Some have accused Royce of being a groupie, she has however denied this saying she dated Dwight for a while before bearing his son. Royce also made some headlines some months ago when she decided to enter a raunchy “dance” contest while in Maimi. The video of that is below.
Evelyn Lozada – The 34 year-old is the ex-fiance of former NBA star Antoine Walker. And yes Antoine is the NBA Player that made headlines last year for being broke after having earned more than $110 million playing professional basketball for 12 years. Not only is Antoine broke, he also owes more than $4 million to his creditors and is facing felony check fraud charges in LasVegas all at the tender age of 33.
Evelyn reportedly bounced once Antoine’s money dried up. But don’t paint her as a villain just yet, as a source tells us Antoine treated her very poorly during their 10 years of courtship. Antoine was reportedly never faithful to her. Evelyn is also said to have a 17 year old daughter. A photo of Evelyn with her daughter is below.

Shaunie O’Neal – Is the soon to be ex-wife of NBA star Shaquille O’Neal. A lot to report here. The couple married December 26, 2002 and have a total of four children together. Shaunie however had a son from her first marriage and Shaq had a daughter from a previous relationship giving them a total of 6 kids.
Shaq first filed for divorce back on September 4, 2007, citing that his wife was having an affair with her personal trainer. Shaunie denied this claim and they eventually reconciled. This accusation was all the more interesting considering Shaq is VERY WELL KNOWN for his cheating and having multiple girlfriends while married. One of his mistresses, Alexis Miller, got a restraining order against him back in 2008. Another mistress Vanessa Lopez, filed a lawsuit against him in January 2010, accusing him of harassing her.
The biggest shocker however came in November 2009 when it was revealed Shaq was having an affair with Laura Govan, the fiance of fellow NBA player Gilbert Arenas. Interestingly enough, Laura’s sister, Gloria Govan, is a cast member on this show. 5 days after this made headlines, Shaunie filed for separation. It was also reported that Laura was a friend of Shaunie’s.
But before you go feeling sorry for Shaunie, she might not be that innocent. The big rumor is Shaunie was still married to her ex husband Daven Baptiste, when she began an affair with Shaq. Daven was Shaq’s accountant at the time, before allegedly finding out his wife was not only sleeping with his boss, but had also gotten pregnant by Shaq. This allegedly led to the couple’s divorce. Daven has however never spoken publicly about his marriage with Shaunie.
Gloria Govan – Is only 24 years old and is the fiance of NBA star Matt Barnes who plays for Orlando Magic. Gloria and Matt have twin boys.
Above is Gloria’s sister Laura Govan, with fiancée Gilbert Arenas who plays for the Washington Wizards. Laura, who has been on/off with Gilbert since 2001, and had 3 kids with him, was allegedly sleeping with Shaq for the past 5 years. Shaquille’s wife Shaunie O’Neal, is also on the show. TheYBF website was able to get their hands on some email exchanges between Shaq and Laura last year in November. Days after the story leaked, Shaunie filed for divorce. And oh yeah, Shaunie and Laura were also friends. TheYBF site has since deleted the story and emails from their site. A screen shot of the email exchanges between Shaq and Laura is however below -

Other than her sister’s alleged affair, there’s not much dirt on Gloria though there are rumblings she and her sister are gold-diggers due to their relationships with NBA players. There are also rumors there is trouble in paradise for Gloria and her fiance Matt. There are rumblings Matt has been very unfaithful on many occasions, and the couple will likely not make it down the aisle.
Jennifer Williams – Is the wife of former NBA Player Eric Williams who has played for the Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Toronto Raptors and Charlotte Bobcats. Not much on Jennifer, other than a rumor that her marriage is on the rocks.
Suzie Ketchem – Suzie is said to be the social butterfly of the group. She dated NBA player Michael Olowokandi for 10 years and the two have two children together. There are however rumblings that she’s a groupie and tries very hard to befriend celebrities.
Erikka Moxam – Is a personal shopper from Miami. Not much is known about who she dated or is dating to get on the show.

I am so tired of people making athlete’s wives look like the poor victims of adultery. OH PLEASE! Tiger Woods wife went from being a nanny without a pot or a window to being a woman scorned with $300M. Shaunie O’Neal wasn’t doing much with her life either, hell none of these women do. Athletes are alot more likely to cheat. So if these women don’t like it they can always give back the Bentley, give back the Gucci and return to poverty. Or get a job and some ambition so you can live your own luxury life and keep your dignity…there’s an idea.
Shaunie wouldn’t have the nerve to go on national TV and play the victim. Her ex husband was Shaq’s accountant and she got pregnant by Shaq while she was still married. And the best part is Shaunie was about to leave her husband until she learned of his pro-athlete clientele. So is she really one to create a reality show about how low groupies will stoop and how pathetic gold diggers are?

It’s funny how Rich, or whoever wrote this, calls Dwight Howard a “douschebag” for bringing that ‘woman’ to court, in order for her to not use his name recklessly. What’s so wrong with that? Are women the only ones allowed to sue for child support, alimony, etc?
Lets be real, the woman is shaking her behind for the world to see, in Miami. We know he got caught up with a groupie. Maybe he didn’t publicly acknowlegdge his son because it wasn’t the worl’ds business? He was still taking care of the child though.

Someone said Gloria and Jen are the only wives. No, Gloria is just a fiancee (along with tons of others). Unless a date is set within a year, these so-called fiances are just glorified girlfriends. The players protect themselves by staying engaged for as long as possible. Smart move, guys! Too bad these girls, like Gloria, are to blind to see it. Gloria actually said she can teach the others how to keep a man. She is WAY too young and inexperienced to teach anything! The others have been where she is now, so Gloria should just be happy she is still with Matt and take notes from the others. They just want her to protect herself, should anything happen. I think that the title would be much more entertaining and befitting of the women portrayed if it were ‘Basketball Baby-Mama’s and Dramas’ (they probably would have a hard time getting the women to sign on unless they present the name in pig-latin
In watching this show, I actually really liked Royce. Had NO IDEA until reading this that she was another ‘baby-moma’, I honestly couldnt figure out why she was on the show except to give another perspective of the ‘lifestyle’ because the dancers/cheerleaders are also a big part of the teams ID’s (Look at the Dallas Cowboy’s Cheerleaders for example) so I thought it kind of made sense…but well well well, she’s actually a member of the SAME CLUB AS GLORIA…the ‘got knocked up without a marriage license’ club. I love how she beats the crap out of that sanctimonious-hollier-than-thou biatch Gloria.
I love how she’s like ‘you’ll never be a wifey’…at the rate Gloria’s goin…neither is she, atleast Royces handicap is lessened by 1degree as she only has one kid to raise vs. two. Hope the child support can help pay for a ‘part-time-dad’ because these women are stupid raising them alone.
