Teen Mom’s Farrah Abraham Reveals Why She Gave Up Her Baby, and Moved To Florida

Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham graces the latest cover of Life & Style magazine as she opens up to the mag about the reason she gave up her baby.

On the Sept. 13 episode of Teen Mom, Farrah sobbed as she struggled with the decision to leave her daughter, Sophia, with her mother while she attends school in Florida. “I would never leave [my daughter],” said Farrah.

Well fast forward to today and Life & Style is reporting she did just that by leaving the 2-year-old behind in Iowa with her mother Debra Danielson, moving 1,600 miles away to attend school at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale while also pursuing her modeling career. Farrah, 20, has been in Florida the past several months and Debra has since become Sophia’s primary caregiver.

In her interview with the mag, Farrah defends her decision. “Sophia is the No. 1 thing in my life,” Farrah says. “I’m just trying to be the best parent that I can. I take care of my responsibilities. I’m happy that I took the chance to move. I would never regret it.”

Farrah also praises her mother Debra for stepping in to help. “My mom is the best grandma,” Farrah says. “I want her [Sophia’s grandmother] to be there for Sophia when I need to take care of my responsibilities, my education and earning an income for both of us.”

Farrah however admits she is also using this time to find herself since a number of her teen years were spent being a young mom and dealing with the death of Derek Underwood, the father of her daughter. The mag states Farrah’s “desperately trying to relive the youth she feels she was robbed of.”

“I’ve been trying to grow personally and emotionally,” Farrah admits. “I’m very much taking time to get back to myself and enjoy my freedom.”

But as more days go by, Farrah reveals she often struggles with her difficult decision. “She tells me she misses me and loves me. I’m tugged in many different ways daily — but I don’t want to limit myself or Sophia,” she states. Farrah also admits she doesn’t know when she’s coming back for Sophia.
