Yolanda is keeping positive and, despite her diminished functionality, she is eager to continue to do things she loves – like modeling!
Yolanda made an appearance in W Magazine, where she was shot for their “Ones To Watch” section which explains, “The most popular shows on television today have their lovely, talented, and social media–savvy stars to thank.” So does that mean her return to RHOBH is imminent?!
In the photo, Yolanda, lounging on the bed in a Carolina Herrera top and skirt, imparted words of wisdom she’s gathered from using social media to further her own career renaissance and raise Lyme awareness, while simultaneously bolstering her daughters, Gigi and Bella‘s modeling careers.
Yolanda explains she joined RHOBH for some “trashy” lighthearted fun, but mid-filming her Lyme Disease returned and derailed all of that. Still, she remains undaunted and determined to fight!
“I had much more glamorous plans for myself, obviously,” Yolanda notes wryly. But she opted to make lemons into lemonade by parlaying her reality TV platform into a way to raise awareness for the disease which effects millions. With the availability of Instagram, which she can use from anywhere – even her bed! – Yolanda has shared her journey, which includes educating about alternative medicines not available in the US. These online connections empower and encourage her to keep fighting.
Meanwhile her daughters Gigi and Bella (and now son Anwar), have learned from their mom about the power social media wields in their ability to attract notice and promote their own modeling careers and endeavors.
Yolanda believes the exposure social media provides for her children to share their fabulous lifestyles and glamorous careers has attracted clients, high-profile jobs, and magazine spreads. She compares it to her days in the business, trudging to casting calls and selling yourself the old-fashioned way without the propensity for self-promotion through mass media.
“When I was modeling 30 years ago, we didn’t have that,” Yolanda reminisces. “You went around with your portfolio, begging for jobs. Now, these kids establish themselves on social media and they just run with it.”
