RHONY’s Bethenny Frankel Suing Ex-Husband Jason Hoppy For Custody Of 7-Year Old Daughter, Bryn

The saga of Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy continues. The bitter ex-husband and wife have been embroiled in court battles since their divorce was filed in 2013, most recently escalating into stalking charges against Jason for a verbal confrontation that occurred at their daughter, Bryn’s, school last year. Now, The Real Housewives Of New York star and Skinnygirl mogul is suing Jason for full custody of 7-year old Bryn. The couple currently share custody, but communicate exclusively through third parties.

On December 6th, Bethenny reportedly “reopened her 2013 divorce case” against Jason in order to seek altered custody arrangements, however the parents won’t appear in court until January.

In January of 2017, Jason was charged with aggravated harassment in the first degree, harassment in the second degree and stalking in the fourth degree after a complaint was filed that said “Hoppy had sent numerous emails and FaceTime calls numbering in the hundreds after a cease and desist letter was sent on November 22, 2016. On Friday, January 27, the suspect approached her and a friend at her child’s school at around 8:15 a.m. and tried to provoke a fight. He said, ‘I will destroy you, you can get all the lawyers you want, you’ve been warned.”

Bethenny’s boyfriend, Dennis Shields, even threatened to sue Jason over the nasty emails (upwards of 160) he was sending to Bethenny and cc’ing him on. The harassing emails, which called Bethenny “old, ugly, and irrelevant,” stopped after Dennis had his lawyers send Jason a cease and desist letter.

Jason was slapped with two more counts of stalking after he rejected a plea deal last summer that required him to attend anger management. At the court proceeding, Judge Chu instructed Jason, “That means you have to stay away from her and [refrain] from making outreach to her. Do you understand?”

Though Bethenny has not spoken about the details of her divorce case on RHONY, she often alludes to the “torture” of dealing with her ex. Now it seems she’s taking matters one step further by suing for full custody of their daughter. Right now the couple shares 50/50 custody of Bryn, but the legal drama of this past year could change all of that. No doubt Jason and his legal team will fight this with everything they’ve got.

According to Page Six, “Lawyers for the parties did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment.”

Sigh. What a mess. It’s hard to know the real story here, except to say please let these adults get it together for the sake of their child!
