Vicki Gunvalson Discusses Her Fight With Kelly Dodd; Says They “Whoop It Up A Lot” On Season 13 Of Real Housewives Of Orange County

After a painfully boring 12th season, the Real Housewives of Orange County really owes the fandom. The trailer for Season 13 was just released and it looks promising.

After two seasons of loyal friendship, Kelly Dodd and Vicki Gunvalson are at odds after Vicki went on a double date with her boyfriend Steve Lodge, Kelly’s ex Michael Dodd, and one of Vicki’s friends. Kelly and Michael just got divorced. Vicki is the one who set up Michael with her friend.Of course, Kelly would be upset. Plus Vicki did this during filming. It just screams like a ploy for a story line, if you ask me.

Vicki discussed the Season 13 trailer, her tiff with Kelly Dodd, and the two new cast members, Emily Simpson and Gina Kirschenheiter, during an interview for The Domenick Nati Show.

Domenick Nati told Vicki, “It seems like Kelly Dodd is accusing you of betraying her. Are you and Dodd in a fight right now?” Vicki explained, “No. That worked out. You’ll see this season. She definitely got her feelings hurt and I had no idea her feelings were going to get hurt.”

Vicki continued, “You’ll see what happened and I think we’ll probably split in half with the audience with whose side you’re on. At the time, I was really honoring a request of one of my other friends and I did what I thought was right at the time.” I don’t think the audience will be “split” on this one. Why would Vicki set up Kelly’s very recent ex-husband with another woman while the cameras were rolling? What Vicki did was insensitive and arguably calculating for the sake of a story line. Will Kelly have an over the top reaction that forces the audience to sympathize with Vicki? That is possible, but as far as the situation itself goes, it’s safe to assume that most people will side with Kelly on this one.

As per usual, Vicki doesn’t seem to be thrilled about the presence of new cast members. She explained, “Well, the issue is when you are Season 13 like I am, of course they’re going to try to do what they can to make a name for themselves because they want to stay on- I’m assuming. When I started this, there was no trying to prove anything to anybody. We were just being ourselves. Now, I think the girls coming on have a little bit of a leeway on what they think they need to do. A lot of us really don’t like filming with new girls, but it’s good to have new blood and new stories…. you know, new lives and I’m 56. I still want to whoop it up. We whoop it up a lot this season, so it will be good.” I don’t see how talking about the new cast members leads into Vicki whooping it up, but I’m all for Vicki whooping it up. That is when Vicki is at her best.

Vicki as asked if there are issues with the new girls. She answered, “I think you’re just going to see normal girl stuff. Everyone gets their feelings hurt and we all have issues, but the most part we ended up on a great season. Everybody is friends and that’s the most important thing.” I’m all for everyone having friends, but hopefully they are friends with ups and downs, drama, and compelling story lines. We cannot have a repeat of Season 12.
