Season 9 of The Voice is about to get its freak on! Missy Elliott has officially signed on as an advisor for Pharrell Williams‘ team.
The Voicereturns September 21, bringing Missy, a reality TV virgin, to show hopeful artists about workin’ it for the battle rounds alongside her friend Pharrell. Pharrell and Missy have been collaborating together on her recent album and in the process he recruited her to come board as a mentor.
Tameka Raymond, formerly married to Usher, is one of the driving forces behind new hit show Atlanta Exes. Already making a name for herself on the show as a drama starter with a ‘don’t care who I piss off’ attitude, Tameka’s ultra-famous ex is now speaking out about his former wife participating in a reality show which could very possibly put him and their former marriage in the hot seat!
There’s been rumors that Usher was extremely unhappy about Tameka potentially airing dirty laundry by appearing on the show, and he was allegedly worried that her inclusion in the reality TV world could damage his reputation.
Usher denies all this! “No, no. I have no feelings about it whatsoever,” Usher insists. “Actually, I haven’t even seen it.” Ushers two children with Tameka will not be part of the show.
While some of our favorite reality shows may deserve Emmy Awards for their acting and scripts, they DO get some recognition in other categories. The Primetime Emmys were announced this morning and several of our favorite shows made the cut!
Dancing with the Stars, Project Runway, Flipping Out and Million Dollar Listing New York were among the many shows given an Emmy nod today. The Emmy winners will be announced on August 25th. Check out who made the cut!
This news is bananas (B-A-N-A-N-A-S!). Okay, it's actually pretty spot on as reality news goes. The Voice is getting some new blood next season so that Christina Aguilera can rest up during her pregnancy. The eighth season of the hit singing competition is set to begin filming in June.
Christina has always traded off seasons with Usher and Shakira, but now she'll be making room for everyone's favorite hollaback girl. I have "no doubt" this newbie will be a great addition to the competition (whoa, that was bad.).
Hello out there? Are you watching reality shows or are you outside enjoying the beginning of summer? I like to think I've found the perfect balance of both, but it seems we all need to step up our game a bit and show some love to old faithfuls.
Unfortunately, Monday night's shows didn't fare well in the ratings race. Desiree Hartsock's quest for love began on the Bachelorette, but a lot less people tuned in to watch her pass out roses than in seasons past. Likewise, viewers for The Voice are on a steady decline.
Did y'all watch The Voice last night? I have to be honest, I have so much in my DVR on Mondays, that I'm going to have to save it for later in the week. That said, I can't wait to see what I anticipate being a much more fun and positive camaraderie among the judges. Don't get me wrong, I'll miss Cee Lo Green, but I think that Shakira and Usher will be great additions alongside Blake Shelton and Adam Levine. As for Xtina? No comment.
There is something about this competition that I truly adore. It's equal parts the design of listening without looking and the witty back and forth among the judges that makes it all the more entertaining. Add in incredible talent, and it's a hit. Of course, there is the always hilariously honest Blake to keep things in check, and he's dishing on the two newbies.
