Now that the new line-up for Dancing with the Stars has been announced, all things DWTS gossip can commence! Perhaps the biggest bombshell so far, besides Lisa Vanderpump being the first housewife to dance into our living rooms, has to do with one of the seasoned professionals. Where is Maksim Chmerkovskiy?
Also, now that Julianne Hough is a bona fide movie star, will her brother Derek continue to dance on the show (well, duh…he needs to find girlfriends!) or will he be looking beyond ABC for other career opportunities? Burning questions, people, burning questions!
When a reality star hits the big time, it give the rest of them hope. Last night former Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Julianne Hough gave them all a peek at the A-List life.
Reality TV stars and many of Julianne's former DWTS co-stars turned out for the premiere of her new flick "Safe Haven", which is based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name.
Among the stars who turned out: Real Housewives of Orange County cast member Gretchen Rossi, who is apparently a close personal friend of Nicholas Sparks. Who knew? She shared on Facebook, "Super excited for the Premiere of Safe Haven tonight with my dear friend @sparksnicholas".

Nene was Tweeting her nervousness over the situation. Yes, our NeNe had a major case of the nerves! "Catch me on the red carpet tomorrow @ The Golden Globes! Imma little nervous abt all the judging." She was in awe of the whole situation, which was really sweet! "My eyes were watering on the red carpet wit excitement & forgot I had on fake eye lashes! Oh Lawd".
It’s being reported that the shows controversial star has his sights set on the big screen, and he recently auditioned for the male lead in a romantic comedy while in New York City on Monday.
Former Dancing with the Stars pro Julianne Hough sat down with the July issue of Glamour Magazine to chat about everything from her new movie, Rock of Ages, to her relationship with super producer and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Reality Tea has a sneak peek of the interview below, including the gorgeous shots from Julianne’s photoshoot.
GLAMOUR: Are you competitive?
JH: Yes, about everything. It gets silly. Ryan and I are very alike. When we work out with a trainer, we’ll die before we stop, like, to the point where we can’t breathe.
GLAMOUR: Is the age difference between you two an issue? You’re 24, and he’s 37.
“The professional dance community is really small. The dancers have known one another their entire lives,” an insider explains, referring to the contention that has developed. “Now that the group is famous, it’s added a whole other level of rivalry and competitiveness.”
The long-standing rivalry was exacerbated following Maksim’s on-air showdown with judges Len Goodman and Carrie Ann Inabaafter a controversial critique of he and partnerHope Solo’srumba. Maksim, who referred to DWTS as “my show” during his rant and encouraged Len to retire, upset Derek who defended the judge’s comments! Mad Maks retaliated by slamming Derek in an interview and claiming he only does well in the competition because he has partners with previous dancing experience!
Well, Derek is not taking those accusations lightly! “I had a laugh about that [comment],” the three-time winner responded. He believes Maks’ accusations stem from jealousy over never having a DWTS win! “I was looking at the plaque upstairs and…well, never mind,” he snipes, referring to the winners’ plaques, which is absent of Maksim’s name.
Apparently, this rivalry may have something to do with Maks briefly dating Derek’s sister, Julianne Hough! Allegedly “Julianne told Maks she didn’t want to have a serious relationship,” yet started seriously dating the very famous Ryan Seacrest which seemed to lead to big things in her career! Well, a source is claiming that a “bitter” Maks started “planting false rumors that Julianne was cheating on Ryan” with him! As for Derek, he was not a fan of Maks dating his sister. “Derek did not like him going out with his sister,” says a source.
Another reason for the beef between the pros is the belief that Derek is a “golden child” of DWTS producers. “Maks speaks his mind, but Derek is a kiss-ass. He never challenges anything. No wonder he gets the best partners!” says a source. Another source, however, states that it’s sour grapes on Maksim’s part.
“There’s no special treatment. Derek is a great teacher! Maks has had great partners too – Brandy, Erin Andrews — and he couldn’t make them win,” says the source. “He should have won with Mel B!” Touché…
However, one source counters that while Derek seems like a nice guy on air; looks can be deceiving! “Derek is dating Lauren Conrad for publicity,” says the insider. “He is focused on becoming a huge star like Julianne.”
A new episode of Dancing With The Stars airs tonight on ABC (8/7c).
