Thank you, Karen Huger for making Real Housewives of Potomac Season 3 worth watching. Karen’s extremely questionable financial situation is the story line of the season (so far) and she’s giving the other cast members, and the live Tweeters plenty of material to throw shade.
The best shade thrower of all has to be Gizelle Bryant. She saw right through Karen’s Grand Dame of Potomac nonsense from the very beginning and she refuses to let her get away with it. During the last episode, Gizelle showed up to Karen’s press conference (without the press) wearing a shirt that said “God Bless The Hugers.” It was the perfect outfit choice. She could get away with defending it as a “nice message,” but it was also a very easy way to get under Karen’s skin.
During the last episode of Real Housewives of Potomac, we “met” the newest Housewife Candiace Dillard. She was introduced as a “friend” of Ashley Darby’s, but it really doesn’t seem like the two of them are super close. Candiace got along with Monique Samuels right away and she didn’t meet the other ladies at that point, but she did watch the episode and she has plenty of opinions about everything that went down.
Let’s start with the good news: Karen Hugeris carrying Season 3 of Real Housewives of Potomacon her back. Or at least that’s a positive spin on the situation. She is the most talked about cast member (by far) and she has the most public story line. The bad news is that Karen has delusions of grandeur about her financial situation and appears to be less than truthful about her husband’s millions of dollars in tax debt.
No one is buying what Karen is selling, but if they were, she could use the extra cash (allegedly). The Housewives and the fans are all suspicious of Karen’s explanations of her financial situation. During the last episode, Karen held a press conference (without the press) just made things worse. Just like the rest of the cast members, Ashley Darby is calling out Karen for her inconsistencies.
I tuned into the Season 3 premiere episode of Real Housewives of Potomac dying to know what went down behind the scenes with Karen Huger’s financial situation, her husband Ray Huger’s$3 million dollar tax debt, and their sudden move to Great Falls after two seasons of bragging about being the self-proclaimed “Grand Dame of Potomac.”
Karen’s delusions of grandeur- and not knowing what a blog is- gave me the entertainment that I expected, but we were also hit with some raw emotions watching Ashley Darby pack up her apartment to move back in with her estranged husband Michael Darby. The realness of Ashley and Michael trying to salvage their marriage was in stark contrast to the Huger family fakery.
In all honesty, it just seemed like Karen was doing a lot of back peddling, a ton of deflection, and very little truth telling. Will she ever keep it real and just own her situation? Only time will tell, but based on the past two seasons, that just doesn’t seem likely. Even if Karen doesn’t ever truly open up about her financial mystery, the other cast members have no problem doing so. Case in point, Gizelle Bryanthas been calling out Karen for her Grand Dame of Potomac nonsense since the very beginning.
With the Season 10 premiere of Real Housewives of New York on its way, expect more photos from the show’s stars on social media, just in time to get us all hyped up.
Tinsley Mortimer shared a photo with (most of) the cast by the water. Ramona Singer celebrated a friend’s bachelorette party. Dorinda Medley posted a selfie for her followers to enjoy. Sonja Morgan supported Luann de Lesseps’ healthy lifestyle change at a holistic health center. Is it April 4 yet? I need the Season 10 premiere and I need it now. Thankfully the stars are all posting on Instagram to satiate my need for RHONYcontent.
It was pretty painful to watch Karen Huger try and explain herself during that Real Housewives of Potomac reunion. Sure, her finances are her business, but then again she did sign up to be on a reality TV show about her life. So it’s hard to know what she should and shouldn’t share.
Nevertheless, there are plenty of things that don’t add up. Was Karen downsizing? Why did she move into a bigger house? Did she move because of her parents? None of it makes any sense, and there’s that tax lien which has never been addressed on the show.
