Porsha Williams Abuse Claims: Kordell Stewart Physically Abused Her; Kordell Says It’s Not True!

Porsha Williams is out on the press trail this week to talk about her actions at the Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion taping.  The reality star is also dropping bombshells about her marriage to Kordell Stewart. Could this explain a few things about her behavior?

Porsha sat down with Access Hollywood and claims that Kordell physically abused her during their marriage – more than once.

She explained, "The video ["Flatline"] does touch on domestic violence and some abuse I encountered in my marriage. It’s not exact to what I went through, because, honestly, what I went through was a little bit worse in some instances.”

When Billy Bush asked Porsha straight out if Kordell hit her, she admitted it.  “Yeah. There were several different occasions that this happened."  She says not all of the altercations ended in abuse, but "When you’re in an abusive situation, it kind of just builds, and it starts to get worse and worse. And people ask me, why didn’t you tell anybody or call the police or what have you? I thought that I could make it better. I honestly thought after each situation I would change this or I would change that, and therefore the outcome wouldn’t be the same. It doesn’t work like that. I’m still realizing now that a lot of what happened, it wasn’t my fault.  I blamed myself a lot for that."

Porsha also says that Kordell admitted the abuse during their divorce proceedings!  “When we were going through the divorce process, we had to sit in deposition hearing, and there wasn't denial, he didn’t deny it."  When Billy mentions that it was Kordell who filed for divorce Porsha explains, "A lot of women who are in situations like I was in, I wanted to make it better. I was praying every day. I was cooking. I was smiling. The outside appearance was as if nothing was happening. Even though you’re being abused, you still love that person, you’re just trying to love them through it. And you’re trying to pray them through it and you’re not realizing that you can’t change a person, they have to change themselves.”

Billy asked if she'd ever been to the hospital.  “I never went to the hospital. I never reported anything."  He asks about visible injuries, "There were, but I’ll tell you the ones that have stuck with me the most is the mental abuse. I had so much pride in being a wife and being a mother and what that meant to me was big. So for me to be told that I was lazy, and that I was stupid and that I wasn’t good enough and that nothing I could do was right, that was really, really hard on me. As a housewife you're trying to be the best and when someone is constantly ridiculing you, I’m always trying to live up to what that person thinks of me, it’s hard.”

They ask her about claims that Kordell is gay.  Porsha plays coy again and says she won't speak out on that.  "that's his life. Whatever he says, he says he isn't, I guess that's what he wants you all to believe.  For me, I'm concerned about Porsha and being better and growing from what I went through."  Billy bluntly asks if they were having sex.  She admits that they were, "but it did change. When you're in a situation where someone is controlling, they'll use money, they'll use sex, they'll use anything to make you think that you're not worthy of better. In that marriage I had no self worth."  Porsha also explains that she realized her value as a person once she got out of the marriage.

Kordell flat out denied Porsha's claims of abuse, “It’s not true. I’ve never abused her. Never put my hands on her. Never."

TELL US – DO YOU THINK THIS COULD EXPLAIN PORSHA'S FRAGILE MENTAL STATE AND SNAPPING WHEN PUSHED EMOTIONALLY BY KENYA MOORE'S TAUNTS? OR IS IT A PLOY FOR SYMPATHY FROM THE SHOW'S FANS SO THEY FORGIVE HER BEHAVIOR?
