Ashley Darby sure changed tactics this season on The Real Housewives Of Potomac, inserting herself as resident production puppet sh*t stirrer extraordinaire! Now, Ashley says she’s in a “transitional phase” in her life since filming wrapped, but still has some choice words for her cast mates – especially the Grand Dame of Somewhere, Karen Huger.
In her blog, Ashley explains why she ended up attending Karen’s “exotic” anniversary party after almost not being invited (and all but begging to be): “I would have had a serious case of fomo (fear of missing out) if everyone else got to see Karen’s new digs and I didn’t. Even still there were dangling question marks just waiting for answers.”
Despite Karen’s insults, Ashley seemed more than happy to attend the soiree – side eyeing Karen’s new, empty, suspicious digs along with the rest of the ladies. She comments, “I would have been more than happy to share in Karen’s joy of her new home if she were actually honest about the questionable circumstances. When she lashed out and called me an idiot, it was further proved that there’s more to this unexpected move than a few Benjamins.”
As for her own questionable circumstances – namely her restaurant, “Oz,” that she shares with hubby Michael – Ashley claims things are looking up. Maybe. Kind of.
Ashley gushes, “Oz has really improved! It was quite a challenge opening my (Michael’s resume is quite impressive) first business in front of America. Hiccups, as well as trial and error, are natural progressions with any new business. While we are constantly a work in progress, I am happy to say that we have made great improvements.”

These improvements include brunch buffets and happy hours, which are now apparently revolutionary concepts in the restaurant biz! Ashley says, “Overall we are on the up and up with no end in sight.”
The real question on everyone’s minds during RHOP’s finale centered on the mystery of Karen Huger, though – and just why, how, and when she moved to Great Falls…??? Ashley explains her reaction to the house itself, which was enormous and furniture-free. “Karen’s house was, as she put it, ‘not my taste,’ but hey I don’t have to live in it. Even with the glitz and glamour of the party, the house is too big and in desperate need of a makeover. The only thing I could think of for Karen moving to this house is her desire to have a better kitchen. I think she was tired of hoping that linoleum flooring will make a comeback.”
Despite their questions, Ashley says everyone had fun at the party, albeit thoroughly grossed out by Karen and Ray‘s super uncomfortable public kissing spectacle. She snarks, “I think we can all agree that this was a major step up from Karen’s other events. I actually enjoyed the belly dancers and the food was bomb! I could’ve done without the kiss, though – the visual of Ray inhaling Karen’s face will forever be etched in my mind.”
Well, we’ll just have to wait for next week’s reunion to see how the group reacted to all of the behind the scenes shade throwing done this season, much of which came directly from Ashley, herself.
Ashley concludes in her blog that she’s in “a very transitional phase of my life right now. Oz is in a better place, thankfully, and I’m pursuing my love of fitness, yoga and meditation. Personally, things are still up in the air as Michael and I figure out if and how we can conjoin our two lives even though we are at different phases. So I’m just going to keep working hard, smiling big, and trying to stay happy!”
