Below Deck Star Ross Inia Arrested In Florida After Partying With Joao Franco

Unfortunately, Below Deckstar Ross Inia was arrested in West Palm Beach, Florida on Saturday.  The New Zealand native picked up were multiple charges, but disorderly intoxication seemed to be the catalyst for the rest.  The Season 6 Bosun was partying at a local bar with Joao Franco, a cast member on Below Deck Mediterranean.  As per usual, the two shared videos of their night out on Instagram.  Soon after Ross’s arrest, they deleted the posts.

Ross was in an altercation with two other men when law enforcement arrived to break up the fight. Then, Ross allegedly attacked the police officer and issued verbal threats.

According to police reports obtained by Dailymail, Ross was behaving aggressively when they arrived.  One officer pushed Ross to the ground in self-defense. Then, Ross punched the officer in the head and shoulder.  He is also accused of threatening the cop’s family.  Allegedly, Ross said, “He messed with the wrong one.”

Ultimately, he was arrested at 3:21 am Saturday.  After spending 15 hours in jail, Ross posted the $15,000 bail.  The final tally of charges are disorderly intoxication, battery on a law enforcement officer and harming a public servant.

This news may come as a shock to Below Deck viewers who have only seen Ross as very level-headed and calm.  Even on the crew nights out, Ross has avoided drama or altercations.  He never seems very drunk or out of control on screen.

The only time his judgment slipped at all this season was that hongi with deckhand, Rhylee Gerber.  Perhaps we should look to his drinking partner for the evening as an explanation.  Maybe Joao’s aggressive tendencies rubbed off on Ross.  Who can forget Joao breaking a wine glass with his bare hands?  Or goading Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier into anger?

Maybe the editing department is just good at presenting an image to their audience.  Hopefully, Ross Inia is able to turn this incident into a positive learning experience.
