Below Deck Mediterranean returns on June 1. That means Captain Sandy Yawn and Hannah Ferrier are on board for another season. In addition to some new faces, they’ll be joined by Malia White, who was a deckhand on a previous season. This time around, she has been promoted to bosun.
They have an all-women leadership team, which is great to see in the yachting industry. However, the team of female leaders isn’t getting along so well this season.
Captain Sandy teased tension between Malia and Hannah during a recent interview with Us Weekly. Sandy shared, “[Malia] walked in on Hannah talking about her. She’s like, ‘I’m right here, Hannah, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.’ My concern was her and Hannah this season.” While that’s a concern of the captain’s, it will hopefully serve as entertainment for the fans.
Sandy added, “And I’m going to see how that plays out, because obviously, we all end on a great note, because that’s how we want to end. Like we say our goodbyes, and now it’s our hellos. Now we’re going to see how well they do.”
Sandy shared, “After our last season, Malia went and worked on yachts, she got her captain’s license. She did not stop. Malia has, I always saw this in her, leadership qualities. Leadership qualities start with being able to confront issues head on without anger, or, you know, just even though Malia was a kissing machine, I guarantee if she was a boy that wouldn’t have been an issue.”
It will be interesting to see how all the drama plays out and if viewers end up siding with Hannah or Malia when their issues arise.
