Patricia Altschul Gives An Update On Butler Michael Kelcourse's Health; Says He's "Progressing Rapidly" After Stroke

Michael Kelcourse, lovingly known as Michael the Butler in the Altschul household, became an honorary cast member of Southern Charm. He wasn’t involved in any of the fights or drama. However, his stable and comforting presence as Patricia Altschul’s right hand man is an integral part of the show. His adoration of the household pets and incredible talent for mixing martinis earned Michael his own fan base. And rightly so. If you watch to see hints of a bygone era, Michael and Patricia bring that experience.

Michael is not just Patricia’s employee. He’s a devoted family friend of 20 plus years. So when it was reported in late February that Michael suffered a debilitating spinal stroke, Patricia made sure he got the best care possible. Michael was moved to the Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta. He’s currently in recovery there.

Recently, a Twitter follower asked Patricia about Michael’s rehabilitation. Happily, she revealed that Michael is on the mend.

“Thank you for asking…of course I miss him as do the dogs and his cat,” Patricia replied. She said, “we’re not allowed to visit him at the Shepherd Center because of Covid.”

Thankfully, Patricia, shared, “we’re in touch all the time and I talk to his doctors frequently. Because he’s so smart and self motivated he is progressing rapidly.”

Earlier in his his recovery, Patricia shared a website where fans can get updates on Michael and send well-wishes. According to the most recent posts, Michael is benefiting greatly from pet therapy. He is also sharing his expertise by teaching a cooking class to his fellow patients.

The blogger wrote words of appreciation on Michael’s behalf. “Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send a note of encouragement for our dear Michael,” the post reads, “he has read every comment and card with a grateful heart at being blessed by the kindness of strangers.”
