The men of Southern Charm are very familiar with, well, making disappointing decisions. Shep Rose’s womanizing ways. Craig Conover’s law school lies. Austen Kroll’s threesome video. Don’t even get me started on Thomas Ravenel. The only man we can truly rely on is Michael Kelcourse and his picture-perfect martinis. But throughout seven seasons, most of the men have grown up, even a litttttle bit. Look at our Craigy — owning his own law firm and making big business out of his sewing. Shep has even settled down with a girlfriend, which still shocks me. As for Austen, well, at least he stopped the toxic cycle with Madison LeCroy, albeit, that should’ve been over a long time ago.
While the main Southern Charmers are changing for the better, the side characters are still proving that sometimes, dudes just suck. AKA Naomie Olindo’s now ex-boyfriend Metul Shah. Naomie and Metul got together after her split with Craig, and he seemed to finally be her prince charming. She even up and moved to NYC for him, just for this man to have THE AUDACITY to cheat on her. What a shame. Even Craigy knew not to mess up that bad and Naomie was still the one that got away.
One of the most underrated characters throughout all seven seasons of Southern Charm is Patricia Altschul’s partner-in-crime, Michael the Butler. Michael and Patricia are the epitome of class and old wealth in Charleston. Michael is always around to photograph Patricia in her dog-covered caftans and make her the perfect martini afterward. He’s seen plenty of characters come and go from Southern Charm, and through Patricia’s mansion, which means you could only imagine the secrets he’s harboring. And he’s more than just an employee — he’s really a part of Patricia and Whitney Sudler-Smith’s little family. Including their sophisticated pups.
Southern Charm fans were heartbroken to hear when Michael Kelcourse suffered a spinal cord stroke at the beginning of this year. Patricia shared a website with updates on his recovery, which she has said is “progressing rapidly” since the stroke. Michael has since been moved into an assisted living facility for rehabilitation. And it looks like Patricia and Whitney have been by his side to wait on him hand and foot for a change.
How many times a day do you find yourself wondering whatever became of former Southern Charm star Landon Clements? If your answer is, “zero”, you are 100% in compliance with the rest of the United States population. Landon is gone and pretty much forgotten, but it looks like she’s trying to get someone’s attention.
Like other cast members who
were fired left the series, Landon continues to comment publicly on the show. And sometimes it bites her in the ass. When Thomas Ravenel famously went through some serious allegations relating to his children’s nanny, most people doubted Thomas’ claims of innocense. But Landon isn’t most people and she counted herself as one of Thomas’ defenders. Recently Landon claimed after she sided with T-Rav, Patricia Altschul dumped her on Instagram. I guess it’s easier to say you were dumped for defending an outcast than realizing you were possibly dumped for being a bore.
Michael Kelcourse, lovingly known better as Michael The Butler, is the unsung hero of Southern Charm. He’s always there to lend a hand and mix up a perfect martini for Patricia Altschul at her beck and call. He never gets involved in the drama, but his presence brings a calming and old-world feel to the show. It’s welcome comedic relief from the constant drama from all the tumultuous relationships on the show.
So when Patricia announced in February that Michael suffered from a debilitating spinal stroke, fans were heartbroken. A blog was set up for regular updates on Michael and Patricia said he was “rapidly progressing” after receiving care. It’s nice to see Patricia being a part of taking care of Michael for a change because we all know he definitely deserves it.
Michael Kelcourse, lovingly known as Michael the Butler in the Altschul household, became an honorary cast member of Southern Charm. He wasn’t involved in any of the fights or drama. However, his stable and comforting presence as Patricia Altschul’s right hand man is an integral part of the show. His adoration of the household pets and incredible talent for mixing martinis earned Michael his own fan base. And rightly so. If you watch to see hints of a bygone era, Michael and Patricia bring that experience.
Michael is not just Patricia’s employee. He’s a devoted family friend of 20 plus years. So when it was reported in late February that Michael suffered a debilitating spinal stroke, Patricia made sure he got the best care possible. Michael was moved to the Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta. He’s currently in recovery there.
Most of the time around here we like to cut up and have fun whilst relaying the latest embezzlement scheme involving a Housewife. Our content often surrounds the trials and tribulations of rich people with little sense and no moral compass. Regardless of what show catches your fancy on Bravo, sometimes the folks who snatch our hearts are not on the main cast. Patricia Altschul has been on Southern Charm since Season 1, and so has her butler, Michael Kelcourse.
Michael the Butler is arguably the best part of Southern Charm. He has been a loyal friend to Ms. Pat and her family for almost 20 years. For all intents and purposes, Michael runs everything. He takes care of Patricia, he maintains an army of animals, and he manages an enormous home with relative ease. Viewers began to love Michael for his tenderness towards dogs and his shy, quick wit. This is why it was heartbreaking to learn Michael unfortunately suffered a debilitating stroke. Now Ms. Pat offers a way for us to keep up with Michael and his progress.
Listen, someone’s gotta bring some charm to Southern Charm. It all just happens to come from one secondary character, Michael The Butler. He sure does bring enough to make up for everyone else’s shit. We have Patricia Altschul to thank for bringing this man into our lives and onto our screens. Though I find the ringing bell to be a bit 17th century, I can appreciate the camp she’s trying to bring. Get yours, Pat.
Michael has been a fan favorite since his first appearance on screen. He’s just a total peach. He is always mixing up a drink, primping some floofy dog, or casually rubbing Cameran Eubanks‘ feet to induce labor. Of course, he and Cam have a special bond. She famously dressed her dog as Michael for Halloween a few years back. A true sign you’ve made it. There’s also the infamous scene of Michael driving through McDonald’s in a Bently. The man, the butler, the legend. Loving this guy is probably the one thing all Bravo fans can agree on.
Southern Charm has had a few infamous pets grace our screens. Who could forget the darling relationship between Craig Conover and his beloved Gizmo? Viewers must also remember the little cutie patootie Elvis who spent time with Cameran Eubanks’ family, despite not being their official family pet.
For anyone who dropped interest in Cam’s story after her departure from the show, you may not know that Elvis was eventually gifted to the Eubanks family when his own family moved from Charleston. Elvis was an absolute icon on Cam’s Instagram. Followers went insane when he and baby Palmer dressed as Patricia Altschul and Michael The Butler for Halloween. He was also just a complete sweetie.
