Brooke Burke shocked everyone when she unleashed a secret about her time competing with Derek Hough on Dancing with the Stars. Brooke told former DWTS pro Cheryl Burke a secret about her partner. “Had I not been married … I would have actually hoped we would have had a love affair,” Brooke said of Derek. Oof. Instead, all Brooke won was the Mirrorball Trophy.
Although, at the time, Brooke was married to David Charvet. And Derek just recently wed dancer Hayley Erbert. So the timing of this revelation is extremely awkward. And icky.
Now the former DWTS co-host is trying to back-peddle her remarks. People has the scoop.
Brooke explains her intimate feelings
“I was speaking about the intimacy between celebrities and pros on the show. It’s almost, I would say, required, if you want the audience to respond to you,” Brooke explained. “And it’s so vulnerable, it’s very romantic. I really felt like Derek and I were telling a love story on the dance floor.” Apparently, one of you was.
She continued, “I was married at the time and my husband sat in the audience every single show. There was nothing funny going on — just to be clear — but I understand how that happens and why,” Brooke added.
And she continued to opine about their oozing sensuality. “It’s the confusion between sexual and sensual, right like we’re grown-ups,” Brooke said. “You can have an extremely sensual experience, a passionate experience — with boundaries — that I think is very healthy.” Here we go again!
“I think it’s a conversation that should be had. I think it’s very human,” she stated. Brooke added, “I think it’s very powerful. And I think that’s the beauty of the show.”
I thought DWTS was about dancing. Am I watching a different channel?
Meanwhile, Derek hasn’t responded to Brooke’s sudden explosion of emotions about him. Shocker!
