Tom Schwartz may be dealing with reality TV drama, but more important than all of that is his brother, Brandon. The Vanderpump Rules cast has not had an easy year. Many of them have expressed their challenges since Season 10’s end, but perhaps none has had quite as difficult a time as Schwartz when things are put into perspective.
During Part 1 of the Season 10 reunion, Tom explained everything that was going on for him on top of the initial separation from Katie Maloney. He said that point was “the most intense moment of my life,” struggling with “almost losing my father, my brother with cancer, running out of money. I was f*cking in it.”
Yes, Tom’s brother Brandon Schwartz has been living with cancer for quite a while now. In September 2022, Tom revealed that Brandon got his hair back post-chemo, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of Brandon’s battle. Amid the pain, Tom gave an update on the situation.

On October 22, the new Winter House star took to Instagram to share a “Little slice of life [cake emoji].” On the post’s second slide, Tom shared a photo of his brother Brandon from the hospital. Brandon was smiling and waved a peace sign at the camera. The two were sharing a meal in takeout containers, sitting on the chairs beside the hospital bed.
Commenters were quick to voice their support with one writing, “Prayers for your brother.” Other comments were along the same lines. Many expressed said they’d be sending prayers along while others voiced their well wishes. But they were all happy to see him smiling.
In an April episode of Watch What Happens Live this year, Tom opened up even more about his struggles. “I was going through some real-life, high-stakes stuff.,” he said. Schwartz continued: “I was in the middle of a divorce, I was going bankrupt, my dad almost died, my brother got cancer … I was consumed in my own little world.”
