Lala Kent knows how to ruffle some feathers. But maybe it’s not all her fault since she wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms to Vanderpump Rules. The Witches of WeHo gang hated her instantly and Lala didn’t do herself any favors when she decided to go topless in Hawaii. How would she know Katie Maloney-Schwartz would blame Tom Schwartz’s wandering eye on her alone?
From that point on, it seems like Lala put up a shield, and anyone who attempts to penetrate that shield is met with total vitriol. That’s not say Lala isn’t entertaining. We have her to thank for James Kennedy’s famous “not about the pasta” freak out and for the phrase “bambi-eyed bitch.” For anyone wondering if motherhood has given Lala any pause in calling people out – it hasn’t!
Craig Conover has grown quite a lot since the early days of Southern Charm. His lies about law school put his cat Gizmo right in the middle of his toxic relationship with Naomie Olindo. After their split, Craig leaned into his sewing game heavily. Now he’s got his own pillow company and brick-and-mortar store. He also finally opened his own law firm to prove to his naysayers that he really was getting around to finishing law school. Just, at his own pace which definitely wasn’t fast enough for a go-getter like Naomie.
Even his feud with Austen Kroll’s ex Madison LeCroy cooled down a bit. Well, after Craig exposed Madison for her FaceTime dates with Alex Rodriguez that may or may not be responsible for the reunion of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. Needless to say, there have been plenty of surprises throughout the seven seasons of the show. The only thing that remains the same these days is Patricia Altschul’s afternoon martini habit.
Craig finally seems to be on the up-and-up after suffering a bit from Peter Pan syndrome. But that seems to be part of the deal when you’re friends with Shep Rose. Now that Shep has grown up a bit, totally credited to his girlfriend Taylor Ann Green, Craig has too. He’s got a podcast with Austen among his new business endeavors and the two will be making an appearance in the Summer House/Southern Charm spinoff, Summer House Winter Charm (that NAME). Craigy’s been living the single life, hanging out with Paige DeSorbo and begging Kristin Cavallari to appear on Southern Charm. And I have to root for him – he can be immature at times but seems to have a good heart. And I only want good things to come for Craig and his pillows.
Vanderpump Rules is getting ready for a comeback – if you can call it a comeback. The show isn’t going to be the same as it once was when it premiers, even if we’re going to see some familiar faces. Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney-Schwartz, James Kennedy, Lala Kent, Scheana Marie, and Raquel Leviss are all returning.
We won’t be seeing Beer Cheese Moguls Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright because they “stepped away.” We also won’t be seeing OGs Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute – 2/3 of the Witches of WeHo – due to racist actions. And thankfully, we won’t be seeing any of those one-season wonders no one cared about to begin with. The faces might be changing on Pump Rules, but so are the lifestyles of these former SURvers. Everyone is either married, engaged, and/or a new parent. The most shocking change of all though is that James got sober and is now engaged to bambi-eyed b*itch Raquel.
Who’s ready for Vanderpump Rules? It’s been a while since we’ve seen our favorite messy SUR-vers make pump-tinis, but we know they’re finally filming Season 9 after a long hiatus. We also know things are going to look a little different this year since half of the OG cast has been fired.
Scheana Marie, Lala Kent, Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney, James Kennedy and new fiancé Raquel Leviss are returning. Writing their names out you realize how many people are still a part of the cast. We do know we can expect a lot of parenthood talk from new moms, Scheana and Lala, and we can bet on a lot of talk about TomTom. But what else might this very different season hold?
The stars of Vanderpump Rules have really undergone a lot of change throughout the past year or so. There’s been firings, engagements, weddings and lots of babies. The rag-tag Sur group has gone from waiting tables and giving Lisa Vanderpump anxiety with their drunken antics to becoming parents, writing books and being real-ass adults. Season 9 is currently filming, and who even knows what it’s going to look like. Scheana Shay is a new mom, but will probably still be waiting tables at Sur in her crop tops and high ponytails that we know and love. Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Tom Schwartz are trying to jump on the VPR pregnancy train as well. Raquel Leviss and James Kennedy just got engaged and might be the new fan-favorites next season.
The one thing that’s sure to be the same is that Lala Kent, who debated even returning to VPR as a mom, will cause some drama. She’s always been one to speak her mind and defend herself to the end, whether she’s sober or not. She and Scheana, who were feuding while pregnant, have apparently made up now that they’re new moms. Lala has some beef with Ariana Madix that the show will likely dive into. And she’s continuing on her journey of sobriety and dreaming of having more babies with Randall Emmett rather than devising drunken plots to ruin his vacation by defiling his toothbrush, among other things.
Vanderpump Rules is entering into an entirely new era now that half the cast is gone, new parents or both. And even less of the cast even still works at Sur anymore, but that doesn’t mean they’re all not ride or die for Lisa Vanderpump. But, of course, they are, she propelled them to C-List celebrity status, leading to book deals, podcasts and more, so they have to be thankful.
Our little Pump Rulers are all grown up. Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval can actually use their air conditioner and microwave simultaneously, but no word on if they’ve bought furniture yet. Scheana Shay has a new baby, and seemingly has bonded with Lala Kent over motherhood, pausing their feud. Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney-Schwartz are no longer fighting over Vegas girls in muumuus, and are looking to join the Pump Rules Parents Party.
For the most part, none of us really know what to expect from Vanderpump Rules Season 9 since so many key players are missing from the equation. But now, we at least know of one major storyline.
James Kennedy proposed to Raquel Leviss. And considering that the cast just started filming, it’s safe to assume the big moment was captured by the Vanderpump Rules cameras.
Fill up your baby bottles because Vandepump Rules is filming. This means we’ll actually see Season 9, but it’s going to be drastically different. Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute were fired for racial profiling Faith Stowers. Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright were axed too departed the show because it was “too scripted.” And a bunch of one season wonders were also fired.
Returning cast members include Scheana Marie, Lala Kent, Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, Ariana Madix, Tom Sandoval, and Lisa Vanderpump. Some of them either have babies, are hoping for babies, or just trying to furnish their expensive homes. It’s going to be interesting to see how the show handles these changes. One thing will always remain though – LVP helped make these people famous.
