Ever since Scandoval broke, Tom Sandoval has been doing everything to reclaim his public image, to little avail. Unfortunately, those around Sandoval have also been labeled as guilty by association, perhaps chief among them, Tom Schwartz.
Schwartz has done himself very few favors in trying to restore his image. As part of the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 promotional run, Schwartz went as far as to say that Tom was “re-humanized,” which did not sit well with VPR fans.
At this point, the worst thing a star can do for their reputation, especially a VPR star, is find themselves in Ariana Madix’s bad graces, and if Schwartz wants to stay friends with Tom, that’s where he’ll find himself. But he’s not worried. He has a plan.
Schwartz praises Ariana after defending Sandoval
Tom told PEOPLE how Ariana has been “absolutely crushing it” on Dancing with the Stars before admitting their relationship was “still kind of strained” (duh). “I’m always cordial with her and I’m always excited to see her,” he said. “She’ll give me a nod and say hi, but I think our friendship [is] going to take some work. I got a five-year plan.”
He continued, “Five years from now I want to be BFFs again.” It seemed Schwartz recognized how important it was to have Ariana’s approval, given how she was “crushing life,” as he put it. “Not that she wasn’t thriving before, but her star is shining bright right now. She’s a star and she’s dancing.”
The problem with Schwartz is that he wants to please everybody. He wants to have his cake and eat it too. If he truly wants the approval of Ariana and her fans, he’ll have to do much more to condemn Sandoval, but that’s all too unlikely at this point. And given his multiple defenses of Tom since Scandoval, whatever Schwartz could do now might be too little too late.
