Though they party like college kids, Summer House fans have to remember that the core cast has filmed eight seasons together, and have known each other for a significant time. Relatively speaking, about a decade.
Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard were friends long before they started dating. They met to film Season 1 together. Danielle Olivera joined in Season 2 and was Lindsay’s ride-or-die. Needless to say, she does not approve of Carl now.
These weren’t just housemates for a holiday. While the formerly betrothed couple will likely not have anything to do with each other in the future, Danielle cracked open the proverbial door on her friendship with Carl after a personal tragedy had them communicating again.
Danielle appreciated that Carl “reached out”
Danielle guest-starred on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast for its December 26, 2023 episode. She had conflicting feelings about the former Loverboy VP. While Danielle still disapproved of how Carl dumped Lindsay, she very much appreciated it when he reached out following a tragedy.
“One of my good friends recently passed away. And they were friends, as well, and he knew him. So, [Carl] reached out, he said really sweet things. So it’s really hard to, in that moment, still hate the guy,” Danielle explained.
The Winter House star echoed a similar sentiment when she appeared on the Gabbing with Gib podcast. Danielle said Carl “was really nice” in that situation, and she was able to compartmentalize her feelings.
“Carl was really nice to me. So I can’t really hate on the guy too much. He does have a heart. And he was my friend for a number of years,” Danielle explained.
There is a conflict in that supporting Lindsay means that Danielle has to accept Lindsay’s recollection of events. However, she doesn’t “want to believe that [Carl] is that guy that would hurt someone so intentionally.”
Meanwhile, Summer House Season 8 will premiere on February 22 and the trailer promises a drama-filled season. Perhaps also some answers as to what happened between Carl and Lindsay.
