RHOP Housewives Who Need To Be Replaced

The Real Housewives of Potomac became an instant classic when it first hit the air in 2016. The series was the first Bravo Real Housewives franchise to feature an entirely Black cast, and the well-to-do women really resonated with the network’s followers. Along the way, some personalities got dropped, like Charrisse Jackson-Jordan and Katie Rost. But with RHOP Season 8 not exactly living up to expectations, it may be time to take a look at replacing a few of the other ladies of leisure

Candiace Dillard Bassett

If the napkin triangle weren’t enough to put you over the edge with the Bravo personality, this season isn’t showing her in the greatest of lights. Currently, Candiace Dillard Bassett is refusing to really interact with the women, and while she shows up to events, it often feels like her mind is elsewhere. You would think Candiace’s storyline would be somewhat interesting since she is on the outs with Robyn Dixon, Gizelle Bryant, and Ashley Darby, but it just isn’t catching fire.

The 37-year-old comes across as hyper-focused and hypocritical on the minute details of an argument. She is known for her low blows, which have given some excitement to the series in the past but are no longer landing. Still, Candiace always has them in her bag of tricks, ready to go.

However, she has proven that when the mean words get thrown back at her, she can’t handle it, which automatically makes me think she needs to work on having a bit more humility. Honestly, I am tired of Candiace and wouldn’t oppose a replacement.

Wendy Osefo

When Wendy Osefo first waltzed onto the Real Housewives of Potomac, she was an instant favorite for me. The confidence she had was unmatched, and I instantly wanted to learn more about her family. But Season 8 has given me Wendy from the Block vibes as she is now putting on an act. We get it, Wendy; you’ve had a mommy makeover and are totally in your hot girl era. The mother of three was extremely conscious about her image when she first joined the series, noting she was a doctor and professor, but now she is walking about in see-through jumpsuits and trying too hard.

Whoever this Wendy is, it feels inorganic to me as she radiates from my TV screen weekly. Wendy’s beef with Mia Thornton was also pointless. Yes, you had a drink thrown at you; who hasn’t? Wendy just never seemed to grasp what it meant to be a Real Housewives star. I mean, is she even Potomoc rich? Maybe Bravo should think about bringing back Charisse, who, let me remind you, had a champagne cellar.

Ashley Darby

To me, Ashley was always spunky, and I liked that about her. She never backed down from the older women, but somewhere along the line, her personality began to turn grey. Blame it on her marriage troubles, divorce, or shopping for a mini-mansion, but Ashley wasn’t that same girl anymore. Ashley is known to be messy. Fans watched during Season 7 as she tried to convince everyone that Chris Bassett was flirting with her friend. The mother of two’s storyline doesn’t have the moxie that it once did.

Maybe if she had kept her relationship with Winter House’s Luke Gulbranson going, that could have added a dimension to her, but currently, all I see on my screen is her inability to ignore Candiace and her love of booty-popping shorts. I ask you, where have all the good Real Housewives gone? I need the old upfront Ashley who once believed she would be nothing like her Potomac wife counterparts, but instead, I am just a fan looking at a housewife who is letting me down consistently.

Nneka Ihim

I like Nneka Ihim, but that is the problem: you can’t just like a Real Housewives star; you have to be willing to go to bat for them, and quite frankly, Nneka isn’t being the drama to make the effort worth it. She’s smart and sweet, and yes, her issues with Wendy are interesting, but production took too long to investigate them, and now I am no longer interested in a shrine that Wendy’s mother may or may not have (She totally has one.)

I was told everything I needed to know about Nneka in her first scene when she shared that she lets people mispronounce her name in order to make it easier for them. No, ma’am, a name is literally everything. So far, the best part of Nneka being on the show was when she gave the thumbs down to Wendy’s drag strut; unless I see more of that, the rookie can go
