Shep Rose Admits Problem With Alcohol After BravoCon Blackout During Southern Charm Reunion

Part 1 of the Southern Charm reunion aired last night and it was full of unexpected bombshells. One of the rawest moments was when Shep Rose admitted that he was completely “blacked out” at BravoCon. His longtime friends Craig Conover and Austen Kroll even put a hard boundary with Shep.

Shep asked Andy Cohen if he could have a moment at the Southern Charm reunion to come clean about some things. He explained that he’s at a “crossroads” in his life that he realized at BravoCon. “I was out of control, drunk in Las Vegas,” Shep said. “I scared the sh*t out of me.”

Shep admitted that he hosted what sounded like an intervention for himself, or a press conference a la Karen Huger, after BravoCon. Both Craig and Austen, who said that they tried to take care of Shep at the Vegas event, chose not to attend.

“This road that you’re on, ends with a cliff. I can’t be in that car anymore. That’s why I didn’t go to that meeting,” Craig admitted. “After BravoCon, it’s dark, but I was like, ‘He’s going to ruin his life and I have to be OK with that because we’ve been here before.’”

Austen agreed that he’s been there for Shep, but it’s hard to keep repeating the pattern. The two friends were particularly not happy when Shep admitted that he’s still drinking. He claims he’s cut back by avoiding liquor and is only drinking beer.

Craig revealed that he’s essentially cut drinking out of his life because he realized his own toxic relationship with alcohol. Therefore, he encouraged Shep to do the same.

Shep also went into a spiral of self-doubt, especially when his friends drew a hard line in the sand. He pointed out that Craig and Austen have created businesses and lives for themselves and he felt inadequate.  “I didn’t have anything. I thought, ‘Who am I? How am I of any value to anybody?'”

Shep seemed to take his friends, including Andy’s, words to heart when it came to alcohol, but his actions will prove otherwise. He proclaimed he’s ready to “make some major changes” and we hope, for his sake, he does just that.

Southern Charm Season 9 concludes with Part 2 of the reunion, Thursday, January 18, at 8/7c on Bravo.
