Why Shannon Beador Chose Not To Attend Rehab After DUI Arrest

Shannon Beador did something very stupid. Instead of using one of several viable means of transportation, she chose to drive drunk last September. She endangered her life, Archie Beador’s life, and could have killed anyone on the street.

Shan drove into someone’s home and was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run. Somehow Shannon was relieved of a public mugshot and she obviously avoided jail. But what some viewers are scratching their heads over is Shannon also avoided rehab for an alcohol problem. The Real Housewives of Orange County star spoke about it on an episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast.

No rehab, no problem

Some sympathize with Shannon, and then we have those who are over her histrionics. One thing that sticks out to viewers is Shannon appears to have no interest in truly addressing her issues because it would keep her from filming RHOC.

While Shannon had free rehab offers thrown her way after the DUI, she said nada to all of them. “I did get offered multiple free alcohol rehab stays. But what I chose to do — and I did my research, I went to a behavior wellness place,” she said. I guess she wants applause or a cookie, but Shannon’s long-documented relationship with alcohol might need more than a “wellness place.”

“Because I want to figure out why I make certain toxic and unhealthy choices in my life. And there was an alcohol component to it. And in this particular time of my life, have I been drinking way more than normal? Absolutely. And so I’m able to look at all of that and see how I don’t want that to be the life. I wasn’t happy.” What I’m hearing is someone doesn’t want to be labeled an alcoholic.

Now Shannon wants props for visiting “one of the biggest trauma facilities in the country.” There was an outpatient program “five days a week” and it’s called “intensive outpatient therapy.” Because we wouldn’t want to commit to a rehab stay where you couldn’t be a part of the Tres Amigas.

“There’s some childhood traumas that I’ve kind of tried to bury,” she explained. That’s all well and good, but what about the massive co-dependant relationships with people and alcohol? What about taking some time off from a tv show where she’s already traumatized and humiliated her children?

“I can make choices”

Shannon’s word salad continued, “Because when it comes to friendships and it comes to business, I can make choices. Like that girl was unkind to me, I’m going to walk away. And never look back. But yet, somehow in relationships, someone will say, ‘Get out of my house,’ and I’ll be back the next day. Why is that? So there are issues in my childhood. And I’m working through that now. Because I don’t want to make the same bad choices again.”

OR she could remove herself from the toxicity of filming a reality television program where she wasn’t the epitome of having it all together in the first place. She also believes the DUI “happened for a reason to get [her] to this point.”

Um, no ma’am. The DUI happened because a selfish woman whose repeated bad behavior has been enabled stupidly drank too much and put everyone else at risk.

Real Housewives of Orange County Season 18 begins filming this week.
