Ashley Darby’s ongoing divorce is confusing her co-stars. The Real Housewives of Potomac are mystified as to how this separation is playing out. On the one hand, Ashley and Michael Darby are very much separated. On the other, their finances are intertwined regarding the house she lives in with their two children.
So it’s understandable why the RHOP ladies would have questions, and theories as to why Ashley has yet to sign off on the divorce. Candiace Dillard Bassett for one, has plenty to say about Ashley. And she shared those thoughts in a recent interview.
Candiace is “really rooting for her”
Candiace appeared on the Way Up With Angela Yee podcast to discuss the real-time happenings of the cast. The issue of Ashley’s divorce timeline, or lack thereof, came up. And the vocalist revealed her theory on why the mother-of-two is dragging her feet. There’s a psychological component in there.
“She’s admitted to having daddy issues,” the Fine Whine singer said. “I think her husband was someone who came into her life at a time when she needed to be rescued and needed to feel like this is a man who is going to fill a void that my father left and that can be a very tough bond to break.”
The financial security was a huge part of the matrimonial benefit as well. Unfortunately, Ashley signed a very unfavorable prenup.
“He essentially saved her and put her in a position to be successful and that can be difficult. That’s a difficult tie to break, and then they have children together now,” she added.
Candiace wants fans to know that she is very supportive of Ashley finding her way.
“I don’t say this in a shady way, but he sort of raised her up and helped her become a woman, so I get her having hesitation in breaking that bond,” she concluded. “I get it, but I am also really rooting for her to run.”
