Here’s What VPR Fans Are Saying About Ariana on Broadway

On January 29, Ariana Madix made her Broadway debut, which is no small feat. She’s seriously been through it. Yet, instead of harping on the Scandoval of it all, like her ex, she’s turning her life’s lemons into Limoncello. Instead of being a jilted lover on Vanderpump Rules, she’s now got her name on the marquee at the Ambassador Theatre in New York City.

Sadly, I moved away from NYC years ago, so it’s unlikely that I’ll ever get to see Ariana perform live. The same can likely be said for most of us. Luckily, several other VPR fans did get this opportunity, and after watching Ariana take on Broadway, they’ve headed over to Reddit, sharing their thoughts on her performance. Here’s what they’ve said.

But First, a Bit of Background on Ariana’s Talent

Ariana is not just a pretty face on Bravo. She’s also a trained performer. In high school, Ariana took on various musical theater roles via her school’s show choir. She continued performing in college, where she double-majored in theater and broadcast communications. After graduation, she moved to NYC, with a Broadway career in mind.

In order to pay her bills, Ariana worked at various restaurants in NYC. She then relocated to LA. Here, Ariana found work at one of Lisa Vanderpump‘s establishments. This helped her to nab a spot on Vanderpump Rules in 2013.

On VPR, we learned that Ariana could whip up a killer cocktail. When she was cast on Dancing with the Stars last year, her other skill sets were finally seen. Here, Ariana effortlessly danced through numerous choreographed sets, sometimes in heels and gowns, making it all look easy. We could never, but Ariana could, as she took home the third-place prize during the finale.

For anyone saying that Ariana doesn’t deserve this, she clearly does. For her longstanding background in musical theater, alongside her degree in this area, it’s clear that Ariana has the chops and the skills required for her new venture on Broadway.

The Crowds Went Wild

Back when I lived in NYC, I did a thing or two at the UCB theater in Chelsea. Each time, I would walk to the theater from Times Square, because the energy around Broadway would always hype me up. Seriously, there’s just something about this area, where the crowds flock, vying for cheap tickets, or even a glance at one of their favorite performers, who might be sneaking into random stage exits at any point in time. As Ariana can likely also now vouch, the hype here is real.

Speaking of this energy, it turns out that the crowds outside of Chicago last week were just as amped as I would’ve expected. One Redditor had a dinner reservation nearby. They revealed that the lines outside of the theater were wild. They could actually “hear the screaming from 2 city blocks” away, which is impressive if you ask me.

During Ariana’s sets, the crowd’s energies remained high, as the OP explained “When she came on stage, the cheers were insane.” After the show, the fans were still peaked. One had to use the restroom, but even they could recount the exact moment that Ariana made her presence known to the crowds. “I could hear the crowd screaming before I even left the restroom, so I knew she was out there lol,” they quipped.

In addition, Ariana’s Broadway performances have received standing ovations. It’s clear to see that the crowds are loving her Broadway debut.

Reactions to Ariana’s Broadway Skills

We already know that Ariana can dance, as her time on DWTS proved. But what about her vocal skills? On this, the OP stated “She absolutely killed it!!! Not just dancing and singing, but she was funny as well.”

In agreeance, another fan in attendance chimed in, saying that they “can absolutely confirm she is a total star – we knew she could dance but those singing chops are killer!”

Sadly, albeit understandably, cameras are prohibited at various theaters. This writer almost lost hers while trying to capture a friend’s debut years ago. So I can attest, finding any captured videos of Ariana’s actual time spent on a Broadway stage will be damn near impossible. Case in point, one audience member noted that “a girl had her phone out and was just texting as the show started and got YELLED at by an usher.”

Basically, if you really want to watch Ariana show off her Broadway skills, you’ll need to buy a ticket and just go see her live.

Ariana’s Love for Her Supporters Was Obvious

The love for Ariana is clearly at an all-time high. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is likely seething, but that’s on him. We truly love how much Ariana is thriving right now. In return, Ariana has an immense showing of gratitude for her faithful and ever-supportive fans.

With some coming “all the way from Texas just to see her,” Ariana’s stayed after each of her shows for long stretches of time. This has become her way of trying to interact with every person who has supported her presence on Broadway.

“She stayed for a while signing autographs for everyone. It took her about 20 minutes to get to me. As soon as she signed, I left and went up the street to give other people a chance to get her autograph/pictures. 20 minutes later…she was STILL there… and it’s freezing in NY tonight…but she stayed out there,” one said, making our hearts swell for how loved Ariana’s likely now feeling.

As Ariana has often discussed her mental highs and lows, we love this joy she is now living. Moving forward, may the curtains of her life continue to rise on brighter days ahead.
