Tom Sandoval’s Former Assistant Ann on His Recent Comments: ‘Offending So Many People’

Tom Sandoval shocked the nation once again with his recent New York Times interview. Everyone’s given their two cents on his tone-deaf comments, now including his former assistant Ann Maddox. The Vanderpump Rules Season 11 fan favorite had to share her thoughts given her previous proximity to everyone’s favorite narcissist.

For those not in the loop, Tom referred to the Scandoval media storm by saying, “I’m not a pop-culture historian really but I witnessed the O.J. Simpson thing and George Floyd and all these big things, which is really weird to compare this to that, I think, but do you think in a weird way it’s a little bit the same?”

In the same interview, Tom went on to compare himself to convicted rapist Danny Masterson in terms of how much he was hated. Tom later apologized for these comments but few accepted the apology. So, what did Ann think when the news broke?

Ann’s disappointment in Tom: “I was close to him”

On the February 21 episode of her podcast, We Signed An NDA, Ann called Tom’s comparison to George Floyd “baffling.” She said, “You are just offending so many people,” and slammed the VPR star for his lack of self-awareness. She added, “I think what it is right now — why I’m upset is because I want to say this to him. Because I was close to him at one point.”

Ann’s reaction was understandable. To be employed by someone for so long paints a certain picture of them in one’s mind. Despite everything Tom’s done in the past, no one expected him to make comments like those he did, least of all Ann. Speaking of Ann’s former status as someone close to Tom, she had some words regarding Lisa Vanderpump.

Ann felt that when Tom opened up about his mental health, LVP should’ve directed him to get some “professional help.” She explained, “It’s easier for a pro to give him that support. And compassion that he needs. Not other people around him who are like, kind of victims of his actions. … Instead of putting it on Scheana [Shay] or Lala [Kent], she should find professional help for him.”

Vanderpump Rules Season 11 continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
