Tom Sandoval ‘Should Have Just Pulled the Trigger’ on Ariana Madix Breakup

Tom Sandoval truly hasn’t done himself any favors on Vanderpump Rules since the Scandoval of it all broke. His betrayal of Ariana Madix seems even more icky when he’s doubling down on his side of the story and living his karaoke fantasy in public. Sandoval wants to be in a better place with the crew on Pump Rules, and you can’t blame him. It just would help if he’d stop getting in his own way.

Every VPR fan has said since Day 1 of Scandoval that Tom should’ve just broken up with Ariana rather than cheating on her with her best friend Rachel Leviss. Sandoval has basically tried to convince everyone that it’s more complicated than that, until a recent episode of Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast. It sounds like, after all of this time, he’s finally getting with the program.

Sandoval reflects on Scandoval over a year later

Sandoval began by saying he previously never thought he would’ve expected to find himself cheating on Ariana. In his opinion, it happened out of nowhere. Host Alex Baskin asked Sandoval how he would have handled the situation with him developing feelings for Rachel if he could go back and do it over again.

Sandoval reflected that he got so wrapped up with the idea of having a “perfect breakup” with Ariana that he delayed the inevitable. “But I should have just pulled the trigger and done it and I should have backed off when I felt feelings and really, really tried to get to the root of where those are coming from,” Sandoval explained.

Now, he believes he became “intoxicated” by the attention he was getting from Rachel during the end of his relationship with Ariana. “People always say it, said it to me so many times, can’t even begin to count. ‘You should have just broke up with her. You should have just broke up with her,'” Sandoval reflected. “But obviously when you’re in it and … when you’re with somebody for nine years, they’re kind of family in a sense. It was just hard to go through with that.”

Alex echoed the fans when he told Sandoval that he set the bar low for breakups. So much so, that Scandoval has become a reference for breakups handled poorly. “Well, I think there was a compliment somewhere in there,” Tom Schwartz joked. Schwartz will always be, literally and figuratively, by Sandoval’s side. Hey, at least that’s some form of loyalty.

Vanderpump Rules continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.

TELL US – WHAT DO YOU THINK OF SANDOVAL FINALLY ADMITTING HE SHOULD’VE BROKEN UP WITH ARIANA INSTEAD OF CHEATING ON HER? DO YOU THINK HE’S GENUINELY REFLECTED ON THE SCANDOVAL SITUATION?
