Bethenny Frankel Thought She ‘Could Never Be Happy Again’ After Divorce

Divorce isn’t easy, and Bethenny Frankel really wants her followers to understand that. The Real Housewives of New York alum spent nearly a decade fighting with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy in a bitter court battle. It was one of those rare instances where the legalities lasted longer than the marriage itself.

On Bethenny’s podcast, Just B Divorce, she’s been opening up about the lengthy divorce process and the massive toll it had on her psyche. She took a brief hiatus from the divorce topic due to the loss of her mother, but now she’s back at it. In the latest edition of her divorce chronicles, she opened up about how the whole thing weighed on her self-esteem.

A massive blow to the ego

On YouTube, Bethenny clarified that she dove into this topic before the passing of her mother. Still, she wanted to post the video to share her “challenging story.” She called it a “cautionary tale” for other people getting ready to pull the plug on their marriage.

The divorce took nearly ten years to settle, but Bethenny explained that she started feeling the weight of it in the first year. She said she felt “powerless” despite her status as an entrepreneur and reality TV star. In the description of the video, she detailed the emotional journey she experienced.

“It affected my health, my confidence, my work, my trust, my faith, and my choices,” Bethenny wrote. “I thought I could never be happy again yet now I am… and you can be as well.”

Of course, we all have our opinions about Bethenny, but you have to empathize with her here. The divorce with Jason took a toll on her. Not to mention, her ex ended up getting arrested after she claimed he was stalking and harassing her. The whole thing was a disaster.

According to Bethenny, one step towards happiness came when she stopped caring about what the lawyers were saying about her. In the early days of the divorce, she said she felt like she was “competing” with Jason to be the better co-parent to their daughter, Bryn Hoppy. Eventually, that all faded, and she wants her followers to have that power too.
