Below Deck Med Season 9, Episode 3 Preview: Captain Sandy Makes Big Changes

Things are heating up on Below Deck Mediterranean Season 9, with Captain Sandy Yawn preparing for some change. But you know what they say. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

In fact, Below Deck Med Season 9 has been defined by familiar changes so far. After Season 8’s poor reception, there was a pretty hefty cast shakeup. Of course, that shakeup was defined by one returning favorite – Aesha Scott.

So, the question remains, will the balance between the new and old be enough to save the franchise? Well, Season 9 has delivered some compelling drama so far. And it looks as though there’s more to come.

A familiar guest returns to Below Deck charter

On June 12, Bravo released a preview for the upcoming Season 9, Episode 3. The clip opened with Captain Sandy on the phone. She spoke with a new provisions company, telling the cameras, “Last charter was the worst provisioning experience I’ve ever had in my charter career. So, we’re changing provision companies.”

She continued, “I’m normally a ‘three strike and you’re out’ kind of captain. But when the first strike is so bad, you’re out.” However, despite the changes, Captain Sandy was also expecting some familiar faces. The yacht would be hosting tennis all-star Gigi Fernandez, an old friend and charter client of the captain. Fans may recall Gigi’s appearance on Below Deck Season 10.

As Captain Sandy and her team looked over the guests’ preference sheets, Chef Johnathan “Jono” Shillingford was clearly looking a little overwhelmed. “I think you’ll be challenged,” Sandy said. To that point, Jono told the cameras, “I don’t … have that much exposure to a group having this many varying preferences.”

Below Deck Mediterranean continues Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.

TELL US – DO YOU THINK JONO CAN LIVE UP TO THE CHALLENGE? HOW DO YOU THINK THE PROVISIONS WILL AFFECT THINGS?
